Strange bumps Xena is a year old now. Lately, I've noticed her scratching a couple times a day. She doesn't have fleas or ticks. She's an inside dog and I would have noticed the bugs when brushing her. I have noticed a few small red spots on her back, no bumps just pink skin, not sure if that is normal. Anyways it occurred to me today when I saw her scratching that it's always in the same place. So when I gave her a bath today I checked under her chin/muzzle where she is scratching. There is a large bump there. It looks kind of like a large bug bite I would guess but its not pink or swollen, just there. I've noticed one on her stomach a while back too when grooming her but I don't think that one bothers her. Does anyone one know what if the pink spots are anything? Do you know what the bumps might be? Could she have simply been bitten by something or could it be something else? I'm not sure what to do besides watch her and see if it gets worse. Any advice would be helpful. |
Little pink itchy spots sound like flea bites. Have you been in your home long or did you recently move there? Has Xena visited any other homes or gone anywhere where she may have picked up one? It is also possible for humans to carry fleas into the house. If the spots continue, I would have the vet take a quick look. |
The little lump on her chin could be where a few whiskers are sprouting from, Alfie has two lumps right beside each other there and on his cheeks, with a few whiskers. |

The other red spots are a mystery. They could be from some other kind of little bug that may have gotten into your house. |
Both Magnus/Zoey has the bump(s)/whisker(s) under the chin. I seem them scratching that are sometimes but no more then when they scratch anywhere else. How big are these red spots?... If it's big enough, maybe they're hot spots? I think it's best to just ask the vet. |
