Bad breathe HELP Our 3 yrs old refuses to have her teeth brushed and her breathe is horrendous! We were giving her Greenies but I've read too many bad reviews that I have stopped. Her breath was better but no good. My question is...has anyone use the sprays/gels for plaque? Or the ones you add to water? Plaque attack etc... Do they work? And do they clear up bad breathe along with plaque? Thank you for your input! |
Did you know bad breath can be a sign of a health problem? a dental problem? Before treating the problem, find the cause. I suggest a visit to the pet for process of elimination. Good Luck |
You need to have the vet check her out she may have an infection or serious problem in her mouth. She may also just need a dental many have to get these for there dogs. Its very important to take care of there teeth even if it is just getting a dental when needed because bad teeth can cause many other problems even with there heart! So please have your vet check her out. A lot of those sprays have Alcohol in them that is bad for our dogs. |
Her teeth are clean. Doesn't seem to have any plaque. She has aways had bad breathe and is worse with the greenies. We feed acana. She is do for a check up. What I would like is some info/reviews on sprays/gels and additives in water. Thank you for your opinions! |
My little one won't let me brush his teeth, so I let him do it himself :D I put doggie toothpaste on a toothbrush & let him chew on it. The cheap, very hard plastic brushes work best-the bristles don't easily come out. Watch her to make sure she chews on the brush without actually eating it  I do agree with the others-I would have the vet check her well for any signs of infection or abscess. She could have some digestive problems, too. Huey gets what I call "vomit breath" when his tummy is upset, even when he hasn't vomited. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...?dl=1372328170 |
I use petzlife spray and gel and it has worked for my dogs. |

Thank you everyone for your input! |
I agree, vet check. Could be a tooth way in the back, or it could be something gastro. I've had many fosters who still had bad breath after a dental. So could be coming from the tummy, etc. As for the sprays, we use Petzlife spray, but most don't like the spray. The gel may be easier to use. I don't use every day like I should but it does seem to work. |
