Bordatella nose vs. shot I have a question sorta. Callie has gotten Bordatella every year sense she was a puppy and I believe it has always been the one in the nose but not a 100% sure on the first 2 years but the last four I am certain they where the one in nose. She has never had a reaction. After reading negative views on the one that goes into the nose I am really worried about it and wondering if I should ask/talk to my vet about the one that is the shot. I definitely am getting Bordatella for many reasons so what should I do? |
In yrs past I would hear of a few yorkies on here getting kennel cough from the nose version but nothing in recent yrs. If Callie hasnt had any problems with the nose version I think she will be fine mine get the shot and have never had any reactikons |
Daisy doesn't take the nose one very well. She snorts and sneezes all day after she gets it and she acts upset. She does the same thing if water touches her nose. I am going to ask for the shot next time. |

Jackson's had many problems with the instranasal. I would definitely recommend the injection personally. It's like the human flu shot, getting the mist vs. the actual shot. The mist is a live virus, shot is not. |

I haven't done bordatella in a few years now because Barney got KC twice while vaccinated (ironically both times were after a visit to a large pet store). Anyway, when we did it which was for many years, we did the intranasal. |

Curious as to why you are determined to give the bordatella vac? You say many reasons but am just curious. I only get it done when I have no choice..boarding place requires it. From all I know, Callie is always with you..rarely boarded. |
Huey has always had the intranasal, but this year he got an oral liquid. When I asked, the vet said that they changed recently but did not elaborate. I think one of my fears is she has done so well with the nasal if i switch to the shot what if she has a reaction to it ya know? She doesn't have bad side effects to shots persay but she does seem to get really really sore where ever she gets a shot like for two days if you touch the area she will cry out and she is not a big crier. |
