Twitches? every time i touch his back... My yorkie is almost 2 years old. He has always had a sensitive spot on his back where if you would touch it he would kinda spasm in a way. Not in pain, but i could tell its uncomfortable. I thought it was a pinched nerve because they always go away. Lately it has gotten worse, it all over his back. If i scratch him he starts tweaking and kicking his back leg. A few things to mention: No fleas I feed him blue dog food His skin seems healthy, i find no redness or bumps anywhere. Maybe a tad dry but nothing extreme. Bathing him does not change his "condition" I use Chris Christensen shampoo and conditioner His mood or activity level does not seem affected by this. Although sometimes he twitches from just wind blowing the fur on his back. I don't have the money to take him to the vet for another week or two and was wondering if anyone has had this problem before. Any help would be great. I feel terrible for my Sampson, he seems bothered by it. Another thing actually, he's always nibbled on his legs, maybe this has something to do with it? He is a very healthy boy, every time i take him in for his check up everything is fine, so i don't know what it could be. |
I'm not a vet. Is it his actual leg he's biting at or the paws? Something else might be going on if it's his paws...might have a nailbed fungal infection (check for flakey, brittle nails or pink tint near the base of the nail, or if they're discolored). I would at the very least make sure there's allergy testing done. If it's not an allergy my next guess is something neurological since his legs bother him also. I know you don't have the money right now to take him to a vet, but I would take him as soon as possible, as from your post it sounds like it's progressing (whatever it is). Also - if I may suggest...try looking into pet insurance. You pay a premium but you can choose to pay it monthly instead of annually or bi-annually and the peace of mind you get from it is worth it. Some pet insurance companies will offer you a zero deductible, but you'll have a higher monthly premium. Might be something you (may) want to look into. I hope Sampson gets the care he needs and they are able to rid him of his pain and/or annoying sensations he's getting. Time to go - puppy just woke up. |
My Jewels does that when you scratch a certain spot on her back because thats her sweet spot she is just sensitive there and it makes her kick her leg when you scratch it |
