yorkie extreme skin problems Hello..I have not been on here for a long time due to my own health...but I need some advice about my 6yr. old Yorkie...she has always had itchy skin..have had her to 4 different vets...I like the one i have now, but she does the same treatment! Allergy shot...every 4-6 wks..( which to my knowledge r not supposed to be given again until 3 months in between.. Problem: She has scaly skin..she itches, & scratches, doesnt eat well..or play until she has another shot..I have shown her where all the soreness & black scaly stuff in her hair..which i have had to cut much shorter because of this..If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it....(she gets baths each week---or 2 wks.. but usually cant stand to go that long...Thank You! |

food If it is a skin problem i would deal with a derm dr- vets will give steroids- do not mask the problem seek proper help- derm dr ix expensive but deals with skin- |
My Shihtzu had severe allergies. Found out she was allergic to chicken. Chicken is in lots of the food out there. I would suggestest to check what is in your food. I think lots of dogs are known to be allergic to chicken. |
I would go to a Vet Derm - they will get you squared away and on the right path of treatment. Once you have complicated skin issues that aren't going away, it's def time for a specialist. You should also ask your vet about trying Atopica - it can be a miracle for allergy dogs. Btw, did the vet do a skin scrape of the skin and look at it under microscope? If not, I'd sure be seeking another vet. |
