Must Visit....a real eye-opener! I'm sure this has been around YT a few times before, but Dog Food Reviews and Ratings | Dog Food Advisor really opened my eyes to the world of "dog food". I also checked out and a few other vids about what really goes into dog food (dead zoo animals, dead dogs/cats/snakes, diseased, drugged, road kill, rotted intestinal organs, chicken/fish heads etc) can all be classified as "meat by-products". The more I read, the more sick to my stomach I got knowing that I've been feeding Daisy this rotted chemical laden mush for over three years. She normally eats Iams, with an occasional can of Cesar, but when I read about that garbage, she's coming off of all of it. I'm making a special trip to the pet store tomorrow to get her some real food.... Those pet food companies sure have some of us fooled. |
Yuck This is so disgusting I could not watch much of the video. Could my poor dead baby be on that pile? I assumed she was cremated but did she end up here? So gross. I really pray that all that we saw does not end up in some dog foods. But I suppose the pit contents were used for something?? I wonder if even highly rated foods have such gross things in it disguised as 'meal'?? I hope we can trust what the dog food producers tell us is in the food. I feel bad now feeding my dog any commercial food, but unless I cook for him what option do I have? I can't get that video out of my mind. Please God may it not be true! |

There are some great articles and videos on that site but remember the maker is not a vet or a vet nutritionist. The ratings really mean nothing what really matter is the company, the ingredients, and how your dog does on it. Always research a company. |
I ordered 1 six pound bag of Blue Buffalo Small Breed from Blue Buffalo Small Breed Adult Chicken and Brown Rice Dry Dog Food | PetFoodDirect hopefully, it will be here by Wednesday, until then, I'll be doing some cooking. Regardless of what people say, I refuse to feed Daisy raw chicken...it just seems gross. Gonna make her a pot of semi-dry boneless chicken breast to tide her over 'till Wednesday. Those dog food companies should be sued out of business...along with those doggy-treat companies. |
My first dog ( way too many years ago) got supermarket brands ...then I went to top rated brands and then to organic .after seeing the above info a couple years ago I started home cooking. Lisa is the one who opened my eyes. But...home cooking can also be dangerous if done incorrectly. I recommend find a good supplement. I like missing link but the best is balacent-it. There are several members who home cook and you can find a lot of info |
1 Attachment(s) I decided not to wait for my order to come in the mail Wednesday and made a 70 mile drive and picked up a bag of Attachment 386769 Blue Buffalo. I've been spreading the word about those sick dog food manufactures to my family and friends with pets. Daisy took to the new food immediately, she crunched some on the way home and I filled her bowl soon as we got back. Thanks to YT for opening my eyes to this horror. At the 4:15 mark in that video, you can clearly see a dog squirming around inside that white bag before it goes into "the grinder" to be made into "meal". Unreal.... |
Thanks for making this thread! I used to work in a city next to Vernon (the city mentioned in the article that has a rendering plant) that I had to drive by everyday. OMGoodness, I had to roll up my windows & close the vents in my car bc it stunk to high heaven.:fainted: There was also Farmer John plant & I saw pigs in trucks going to be made into sausages (I don't eat pork & red meat, rarely eat chicken now) & when I drive home in the evening, yucky oily residue got on my car. Linking this so you can take a look @ the rendering plant's White Paper. Dead Dogs and Cats Use to Make Meat Meal Just avoid pet foods w/ 'mystery' meat, flavorings & oils (e.g. 'Meat & Bone Meal', 'Natural Flavors', 'Poultry Fat', 'Fish Oil' etc.). It can come from 4'D meat, the Dead, Dying, Diseased & Disabled & rendered from euthanized animals, even dogs & cats. But it's also used in fertilizer & poultry feed (Exactly why I'm trying to stop eating chicken, I don't even think organic is safe anymore! Guessing cage free is ok?), which ultimately lands on our dish.:confuse8: |
My yorkies eat blue buffalo and they love it- i put a little water for gravy and mix a little wet chicken veg- blue buffalo food in it- their stools are formed no problem i like this food- one is on senior and on is on adult- |
