Sanos...dental sealant. YouTube Ian had his teeth cleaned today, and had the sealant, Sanos applied. It is supposed to last for six months, but of course that depends if your dog uses "dental type toys," or hard toys. You are not supposed to brush their teeth with this sealant because it will gradually remove it. Ian's vet said that they can reapply it after six months, with a mild sedative. I read up on on it before deciding to use it...I felt that it was better than OralVet, and longer lasting. It's more expensive, but may save money in the log run. |
That's great, I hope it works well for him. Sounds promising and I like that it can be reapplied...every little bit has to help some with these little guys. |
Wow that's cool! Never even heard of it. I had oravet applied when Jax was under, been using it every week. |

This sealant was supposed to last six months, with responsible care. It has been two months for Ian, and I have noticed yellowing on his teeth. I called his vet and asked if I should resume brushing his teeth, and she said yes. I am appalled because it only lasted two months! I just brushed Ian's teeth, and there was some bleeding on one side. That has never happened to him before. After brushing, the yellowing was pretty much gone. The vet wants to see him in four months. |
Sanos doesn't prevent crown staining. It is really for hard to reach places. The company literature dies say brushing can be resumed 7 days after application. I know the general recommendation is to not brush. That is not a good idea for the gums, imo. Personally don't like it at all... |
I have started using a gel on everyones teeth at bed time. This seems to really help with tartar buildup. I still have to brush in the morning. The idea of sealants sounds great. |
