Fromm Family Foods has anyone tried the fromm family foods brand for their yorkies? |
Yes, loved the company (no recalls & American made) and their quality of foods. My yorkies get bad black eye boogies on it, though. I think they get it from the chicken fat, though, so it's not like they wouldn't get it from any number of foods. I still have my kitties on the grain free, though. |

I haven't tried Orijen yet. I do feed them Primal raw and rotate through the proteins. I just give them kibble now to supplement because I feel that Mojo especially gets too skinny on just raw. We're finishing up a bag of the beef Fromm (the only flavor that doesn't have the chicken fat to my knowledge). We tried Canine Caviar, but they don't seem to really like it. I have this wonderful, holistic pet food store in town that focuses on selling American made products, sourced as locally as possible. She also sells one or two from Canada, but that's it. When I described our eye boogie problem, the owner suggested I look into Lotus and Acana, so I may be trying one of those next. |
We use Fromm and it has been a good food for the Yorkies. They haven't had any issue.... Seymour gets the Chicken ala veg and the other two get the grain free ones. (Seymour has a sensitive tummy and the grain free ones are too rich for him) |
My boys have been eating Fromm Chicken a la Veg for 4 years. That is one of the Fromm 4 Star line. Other people have suggested trying their Gold line, which has fewer ingredients and may be better for sensitive pups. Although my boys don't have any sensitivities, I may try the Gold next. I don't recall if they have a puppy food, and I would be more comfortable feeding a puppy that instead of an all life stages food. |
We have been feeding Fromm on and off for about a year...Toki does well on both the grain-inclusive and grain-free formulas. It's definitely an all-around great food. I feel comfortable with the company and quality, Toki does very well on the Fromm and it's easy to find and affordable...definitely a food to try for your pups! Quote:

We rotate between Fromm Four-Star formulas and Horizon Legacy and Amicus. These have been very good foods for our 4 dogs. The only formula we ever had trouble with was the salmon formula (from both Fromm and Horizon). So we just don't feed the salmon formulas. Even though the other formulas have a little salmon in them, those don't bother the dogs. The only one we had the trouble with was the ones that had salmon as the primary protein source. I would tend to say my dogs seem to like the taste of the Fromm formulas better (they really love the duck formula!). But they love the Horizon too. They seem to eat a little less of the Horizon than they do the Fromm though. I have not tried the Fromm grain free formulas, so maybe they would eat a little less of those? I believe you can't go wrong with either brand and they are both highly recommended by the people where I buy the food. They are their favorite 2 brands. |
Thank you all for your input! My breeder is in the process if switching Miley over to Fromm (the game bird recipe was her favorite) and I wanted to know if anyone else had ever heard of this brand since it was new to my breeder and I. |
