Which Revolution should we get? Found a flea on Lo, first time ever and after reading around the site looks like Revolution is the best for fighting them. We're stuck on which one should we get 5-10lbs or 10-20lbs she was a little over 10lbs hence our dilemma. Does anyone know if any retail stores carry revolution in the Bay Area? |
I have to go get a heartworm test before the vet will prescribe the revolution. I usually get it from Petmeds.com. The vet will send them a scrip for it. |
I am uncomfortable doing a spot on treatment for heart worms. I would use frontline for fleas. |

My vet said alot of the information and complaints about Revolution being ineffective for heartworms comes from the fact that the med was not applied properly. It must go directly onto the skin, and the entire ampule must be dispensed onto the dog. My vet will have people do demonstrations of applying their Revolution about twice a year, just to be sure they are applying it correctly. I have used it for years and no heartworms, or any of the other issues this one medication covers. If your pup is 1 lb or less over 10 lbs, I would use the 5-10....if pup is over 1# over 10#, go up to 10-20#....check with your vet. |
Forgot to say....I dons know if you have issues with ticks...Revolution does not protect against Lyme disease....Ticks are not an issue here, with me....and my dogs do not leave my yard, so Revolution works super. |
I forgot to add...Revolution does nothing for ticks carrying Lyme disease.... ticks are not an issue here with me, and my dogs do not leave the property, so Revolution works fine for us. OOOOpppppps!! Double post!! Sorry! |
You are in Los Angeles. I would use the less amount. Not the greater amount. |

I think we'll go with frontline, is there any precautions when doing it yourself instead of going to the vet and having the vet do it for you? |
