Sentinel back on the market Hi everyone, I remember hearing that Interseptor was taken off the market due to problems in processing. Yesterday in talking with my vet's assistant to order the heart worm and flea meds I need for our dogs, I was told that Sentinel (which has the same ingredients as Interseptor, plus a birth control for fleas) is now available. From what my vet's assistant said, many people in our area do not use a topical med for fleas when they use Sentinal however, if we are taking our dogs to the local State Park or where other dogs run and play, then a topical is advised in addition to the Sentinal and can be given without worry. The Sentinal product is a chewable pill (that may need to be disguised in something to encourage the dog to want to eat it (you don't want to be pushing anything down the throat of a small dog), like cheese or peanut butter. The flea med in Sentinal works to destroy flea eggs but does not kill adult fleas which is why you might want to use a topical flea med in addition to using the Sentinal. It is also recommended that the Sentinal be given when feeding a full meal to discourage any tummy upset. I remembered seeing several posts that indicated people were using the Interseptor with great success and so, when I heard this info on Sentinal I thought I should share what I have heard from our Vet's office. I thought this was good news and wanted to share. I hope this helps someone! |
