fresh pet Has anyone ever tried this? |
I don’t really like it… For one it has Carrageenan which is debatable on YT, so I just stay away from it. It also has Flaxseed which Peanut is allergic to. IMO you can find way better “wet” food other than that. |

Carrageenan is too high up on the ingredient list to cause a concern. Carrageenan is injected into lab rats to induce joint inflammation...to test the effectiveness of anti-inflammatory meds! |
Wow! Thanks for the info. Just trying to find something she will eat that's good for her. She is going through a picky stage. |

Deanna, she is currently eating Now Fresh dry food. She was eating Cesar can food...I know not the best but all she'd eat. I don't know what to try next. Any ideas? I am looking for a wet food for a topper. |
Hmm, I don’t use wet food- If I add a topper to Peanut’s kibble I will boil a skinless boneless chicken breast and put a little on top ( teaspoon size). I also will top some Synergy ( mixed veggies from Canine Caviar) on the kibble .. other than that he will eat his kibble by itself. Maybe she doesn't like the kibble anymore? Have you ever thought about finding a new dry? I myself think it is very important to have your dog on a kibble that they will eat without any toppers on it. I think it is great to switch it up sometimes and add something different for them, but if they aren't eating the dry alone- to me that is a problem.. With all these recalls going around you really have to be careful what you are feeding. |
The only way she eats the dry is to hand feed it to her. I have tried so many different dry foods and she just won't eat them. I'm lost. |

It's turkey. She doesn't seem to like venison, beef, or chicken. |
There are good canned foods w/out carrageenan. Will she eat other canned foods besides Cesar's? Weruva is a really good one, pricey but well worth it. Other good ones to try are: Party Animal, Fromm, Halo, there's many more. Here's a list I compiled, it's 5 star foods according to dogfoodanalysis, but 4 or 3 stars will be fine too, what works for your dogs is best! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...rrageenan.html You might also want to google any food/company you're interested in to see if they've had a recall. Castor & Pollux was bought by Merrick, so it's not recommended. Merrick has had numerous recalls. |
Peanut doesn't like Chicken as well.. Have you tried a salmon or lamb/ duck? Peanut seems to like the higher quality meats.. Venison, Lamb, loves Duck- he likes Venison, but isn't his favorite. |
Thanks Jenny. I will look into these listed. Maybe I can find something she will eat. |
Deanna, I will have to give the duck a try. I think I tried lamb and she didn't like it as well. Thanks for the info. |
Best Wet Dog Foods Here is a starter... it does have some of the food Jenny mentioned so just keep in mind. Any foods you are wondering about, start a thread. You wouldn't believe ow many foods YT'ers have tried!! |
