Shampoo/Conditioner
 

Oscar is very sensitive to Shampoo..
However Conditioner does not bother him..
Would it be OK to use just Conditioner when I bathe him ?

Maybe you could try a cleansing conditioner like Wen? Loreal makes a cleansing conditioner that I use on my own hair. I'm not sure if those products are safe and/or will work well on his coat though. In the winter, I noticed that Yoshi had a flakey tummy & the hair on the top of his back was dry. I would shampoo & condition one week, condition only the next week. I'm not positive if conditioner only will cleanse the coat of grooming products & day-to-day dirt. If you bathe him weekly, maybe you could try a puppy shampoo every other week?

yeah, i don't feel comfortable using the human products..
maybe i will just try bathing him every 3 weeks..
i am just having a hard time finding a shampoo that does not bother him..

I hear ya re: human products. I'm sure someone will have a good suggestion. There's got to be a good, gentle shampoo for the sensitive babies out there.

Have you tried an oatmeal shampoo

You could also try something that is fragrance free

yes, i think i will have to do that ..
it is hard to find something that is fragrance, dye and soap free..

IOD has a Naturaluxury line that's soap free, paraben & sulfate free. Pet Head is another good one, also cruelty free. But they're not fragrance free. I carry both in my site.
Warren London is another excellent one, but I am all sold out on their shampoos.

I love the Pet Head Strawberry Yogurt Conditioner! It has awesome ingredients and very gentle. It is also a leave in conditioner and doesn't leave the hair greasy! I am going to give the Pup n Fluff shampoo a try.....

Doesn't it smell so yummy? Makes me wanna lick them like a lollipop or ice cream cone loll! The puppy shampoo is tearless & I use that for their face sometimes, very nice!:thumbup:

No, it is a pink tube and comes in a creme form. It does smell so yummy! It is called High Maintenance Strawberry Yogurt leave- in Conditioner. It has Aloe Vera, lavender extract and chamomile!

Believe it or not.....I found mine at Walmart in the pet section! I didn't know is was going to be so good until I tried it! I love the natural ingredients, too! Teeka has some flaking and itching and I was looking for something gentle and this product has really helped! I want to try the puppy shampoo as it is suppose to be very gentle on the hair and skin.

That's good to know. Yoshi has some flakes on his tummy. I'm hoping it was from the winter weather. It's starting to warm up a bit now, but he still has some flakes. It's good to know that it worked for Teeka. I'm definitely going to pick some up! Thank you!

i found a great hypoallergenic shampoo for oscar. soap free / fragrance free...

i was reading a thread on here about how some people use Pantene Conditioner
for their pups, i decided to give it a try..

it is awesome. oscar's coat is super shiny and silky and he is not itching at all so that is a good sign..

I hope this works for Oscar! He deserves a break......I do love how shiny his hair looks all the time!

thanks.. i think he will be good now.. i am going to bathe him every 3 weeks instead of every week. that is too much for him..

Try bathing with baking soda and water. Also finely grid oatmeal, then add to water and bathe.

Since Walmart has been selling pet head, I figured I would give it a try and bought the purple bottle I love the way it makes his hair look all clean and healthy..

I want to add since your baby skin is senstive try shampoo's without oatmeal.. I've read that dogs with yeast infestions when you wash your baby do not use shampoo's with oatmeal, reason is the oatmeal will feed the yeast and it will not help.. I am doing a anti yeast diet on my mom's shih tzu basically im feeding raw ground meat with whole boiled eggs shells included *the eggs have been put through a blender* and I bought cosequin fish oil, this diet is suppose to starve the yeast and help return the dog's intestines back to normal. medicine from the vet while it helps for a bit but in the long run it just makes it worse it throws the dog's system out of wack.
I thought being raw meat the shih tzu would just gobble it up she is very picky she does eat it just have to feed it to her till she does. You can use other raw meat i just used ground meat its cheaper since i give it to all the dogs 4 total my 2 they like raw meat to! I'm not claiming to be a vet I have been reading about this. Foods that contain sugar should not give to dogs with yeast problems it just feeds it makes it worse.
I just wanted to point this out, Im not saying your dog has yeast problems just a thought.
