Raw diet Anyone here feeding a raw diet? Just got a sample of Primal today and started one of my babies on it. Transitioning her right now, but she seems to love it. She ate up the little bit I put in her dish and left her kibble. I'm waiting to switch my older boy, as he's having a dental procedure on Thursday and I don't want to do anything to upset his system right now. |
Yes, there are a few of us feeding raw, both homemade and store bought. Welcome to it. :) |
Happy with Nature's Variety Iinstinct |
I feed raw - usually Primal Duck, but sometimes other flavors and other brands. I've been feeding it for about 6yrs now. |
My puppy loves it and has been gobbling it right up. So far so good, she is leaving her kibbles in the dish though. I've heard various ways to transition, the slow way with increasing the new every couple days and I've heard raw should be feed cold turkey. If she's not really eating her kibbles and only the little amount I put in her dish she is not getting her appropriate portion for the day. Should I just start with her morning meal as raw and the evening as kibble for about a week?? Also, would it be appropriate to feed my older dog that way, morning raw and evening kibble? He has had stomach issues in the past and is on a prescription diet. I would love to get him off the prescription diet for good, but would be happy to do half and half for the time being as I see how he adjusts. Any thoughts? |
I feed raw and I changed them over in three days. I have no trouble with them not finishing their food. They love it. I feed Natures Variety - all meats except the rabbit as it is the only meat that comes from china. All the other meat comes from USA or New Zealand. |

As for your older dog, I would speak to your vet before making the switch. If he's on a prescription diet, you want to be sure he's getting the proper amounts & the right type of protein. I switched both of my pups to raw cold turkey. They didn't have any tummy issues at all. |

I feed my two Primal they love it! We rotate through all the different proteins, though. Mojo seems to get almost too skinny on it, though, even when I've tripled his meals, so I've started giving them 1 meal of kibble a day. (He's going to need LP surgery, so have to get a little weight on him beforehand.) Other than that, we have had no complaints! Their coats look gorgeous, their eyes are clear of goop and they have hardly any tear staining at all. |

That is going to be something really good for her,Because using food in raw form has more nutrition and benefits. I suggest you to keep using it that will help him to grow faster with a better physique. |
