How many eggs a day? I've heard that feeding eggs are good for fur and coat, and it's a good source of protein. So I'm thinking about giving my furbaby some hard-boiled eggs. Would half an egg each day be too much for him? He's around 6 mos and weighs around 3.6lbs. |
A half an egg would be fine |
Keep in mind that a single boiled egg has 70 calories. Adding 35 calories a day is a significant amount of a 3.5 pound dog's daily intake. Adjust other food and treats accordingly. My other concern would be the nutrient balance of my dog's diet, the protein/calcium ratio. If you are feeding kibble, a daily half egg may upset this. |

If you are feeding kibble, you do not need to add an egg to the diet since the kibble is balanced. If you want to feed an egg, then please be sure that your dog is tolerant to fat. I feed little bits of scrambled eggs to a couple of my dogs, but no where near an entire egg. It's overkill. If you have issues with coat and skin, then reconsider the kibble you are feeding and opt for a better brand. |
I give Jess some egg once a week. just cut back the kibble amount at that feeding.. |
Our dogs get a little slice of a hardboiled egg pretty much every day. And whoa, they LOVE that dang egg slice! |
