I'm so sorry to hear about your poor little guys dental condition... I'm so glad, however, that you've made him a vet appointment to be taken care of. I'm not exactly sure what to suggest to feed him, but perhaps try moistening kibbles for him to eat in the mean time? Poor baby :( |
Small dogs normally have bad teeth for some reason that's why it is so important to take care of them. Some times it can also be genetics. Sense he is still so young I bet he had genetics and them not being taken care of against him. I would soak his food in hot water. |
Teeth That is so sad in one so young. You must be so upset that he is losing teeth already. However I am sure the vet will do what is necessary to make his mouth feel better. The poor little mites do not complain and put up with pain without a sound often. Either soft food, softened or small kibble should keep him sustained. Praying the vet will find it is not so bad and that your boy will soon be himself again. |
Foxy had the same problem..and still does to some extent..She has to have a dental done every year, she is a grade 4, which according to my vet is the worst..My vet still recommends feeding dry bc she said wet would be worse for her teeth..I think though if you are really good at brushing their teeth either would be ok... |

We have/had 2 with bad teeth. Tameka had her teeth cleaned and within a few weeks, they were already getting tartar! Max had a cleaning in October and he could use another one, now. He won't chew on anything to help clean his teeth. His breath is getting bad and brushing doesn't seem to help! Now my Teeka has the whitest teeth! She is only 8 months but loves to chew on Bully Sticks! I think "chewing" on dental chews or Bully Sticks make a difference. I pray that your guy will make a quick recovery. He is going to be so sore and need lots of TLC! |
Teeth Thank you for updating us on your baby. I am so sorry he has to go through so much due to lack of care before you adopted him. He is so lucky to have found such a loving and caring mom. Please do not worry, he will be fine, and it is better to get it all done in one sedation and not put him through more. He will feel so much better with his bad teeth gone and you can move on to the happy and healthy life he deserves. Did the vet know how many teeth need extraction, hope its not too many. Thoughts and prayers are with you for a successful surgery. |
