Royal Canin Hypoallergenic? Does anyone have experience with this dog food? My Jenna is in hospital receiving fluids and meds by IV because she's been very sick for the last two weeks after an apparent food allergy/reaction. The vet wants to start her on this (the canned version) to try to get her eating again. Looking for success stories or just plain old good advice on this. Jenna's recent troubles are documented in Sick and Injured Yorkies here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-week-now.html She is a nervous doggy who doesn't like being away from me, I can only imagine how unhappy she must be tonight, stuck in the vets...I'm praying they can get her eating relatively soon because I don't know how well she'll do with a prolonged stay. But I also don't want her coming home too soon. :( Many thanks in advance for any and all replies. |
I have fed my dogs Royal Canin for over 25 years with great results. I start my breeding females on the Pro diet for breeding females and I carry through all the stages, until the babies are sent to new homes on the puppy kibble. I have friends and many people on here, that have fed the different prescription diets by RC, with excellent results. I certainly would not hesitate to use it if I needed to. |
Columbo's internist just started him on this food. He is currently eating the canned, but I am also going to order the dry. Columbia has PLE/severe IBD. So far, he likes it, but he loves to eat and the steroids make him even hungrier. |
I would use it, but it doesn't meet all of my dog's needs. We use Purina HA with good success. I have a friend that feeds her yorkie the RC with excellent results. |
We tried this when Callie was about a year old and she just would not eat it but if your vet recommends it I would give it a try. Many dog's lives are saved or made better by prescription food. |
Jessie eats royal canin calm..never had a problem.. |
Thank you all for your replies. :) My vet has decided to go with Natural Balance Vegetarian formula kibble as Jenna is now showing allergic reactions to any animal protein. She seems to be doing very well on it and we will also be consulting a nutritionist on a vegetable protein specific diet for her should she ever become sensitized to this food. :) |
I been thinking of switching Cruz to this brand as well. He's currently on the Hill's L/D but I find him licking and bitting his paws an awful lot. I would have to switch to the R.C. Heptic though. I have heard great things about Royal Canine in general though! |
Royal Canin Dri Food Just recently bought a bag of RC, Yorkshire Terrier 28 Formula, since I found so many good reviews for Royal Canine. Well, the bottom line is that it looks good, smells good, but it is hard as little rocks. My 10 lb Yorkie can barely break it and my 5 Lb Yorkie can't chew it up at all because it is just too hard. I have to soak it or break it up and breaking it up is no easy task since it is so hard. I've bought my first and last bag of RC, not because of the ingredients but of the fact that my little dogs can't eat it. |
