Alright Already with the Finicky I know Yorkies are notoriously finicky .... but I'm getting tired  Food is maybe yes maybe no I know .... they'll eat when they get hungry Problem is ... one of my boys will begin to vomit when his stomach is too empty .... and treats I bring home a bag of treats and it's I love them ... Love them L-O-V-E them ...and then after awhile it's .... What's THIS crap you're trying to pawn off on me My Mike will actually give me the Pfffft .... and turn his head anyone else ready to give up OY! |
LOL, sounds like my house too :) Yes, they are finicky eaters, my Maltese is the same too. I just try to switch it up for them :) Hang in there, the love and happiness they give are well worth it! |
I would switch it up the treats I would work with two different types. |

Right now we're in TOTAL love with Chicken Jerky :p Let's keep our respective fingers and paws crossed |
Mine are really picky about treats but the only food Ive tried that they wouldnt eat is chicken soup for the dogs soul. I dont know why but they just dont like that food |

Deaths of 500 dogs blamed on jerky treats, FDA says - Vitals Milo's Chicken Jerky, Purina Waggin' Train.. |
My Ziva was always a "picky" eater until the vet was insistent that she lose at least a pound or more:eek:! It took awhile to cut her food back enough to get her to start losing ounce by ounce. But we are down the pound and she eats her ration without a single complaint. No treats! (She was over 8 lbs and what I thought was stocky and solid- now an even 7 lbs and doesn't look at all skinny, I guess the vet was right :rolleyes:she should be 6 1/2 lbs) |
I know your frustration with food! Tucker will not eat any dog food! I tried the deal with "when he gets hungry he will eat" deal....no he did not! He will eat chicken for a while , then beef, sweet potatoes, then will not touch them! I worry about him getting what he needs and have tried everything they offer to put on the food etc. Vet says he is good and healthy and to keep doing what I am doing! But, I guess every Mom whats her baby to eat a little at least! |

It's none of these .... but now I'm afraid to give them anymore Oh Well back to the drawing board  |
Alright update on the treat problem We found a new treat that the boys like They seem to be liking the sweet potato treats But they have the consistency of Gummy Bears and my Mike gets them stuck on his back teeth so he goes around with his mouth half open and his toungue hanging out like a Teddy bear .... and I have to UNSTICK the Sweet Potato Treat  |
Hello, Have you tried any of the freeze dried treats? They are the ONLY treats my little guy will eat. The food is still hit or miss but he seems to tolerate this brand better than others we had tried it is biljac for small breeds. |
Finicky Oh how I feel your frustrations! I get so worried when my dog will not eat his food. Like your boy, he gets sick if he does not eat so the 'he will eat when he is hungry' idea does not work. I think I have found the magic food, but it only works for a while. At the moment he is on Canine Caviar but I have to add toppings for him to eat. He poops well and is healthy. Luckily he is better with treats. He will do anything for Blue Buffalo soft bites, chicken base, and Pure Bites freeze dried chicken breast. Not that I give him many treats, only good behavior or training. It is a constant battle, but we have to keep trying. LOL! |
My dogs were picky eaters until I started feeding raw. Now they dance around my feet when I'm preparing it and its eaten down In a matter of minutes the bowl licked clean . |
I guess I should consider myself lucky, as none of mine are picky eaters! We have 3 yorkies and they all eat their food without any issues. I do not give treats very often, so maybe that is why they always eat their meals. When they do get treats, they are homemade, gluten/grain free treats or some boiled chicken breasts. I really think giving treats may ruin their appetite! |
finicky with a capital F Have you tried banana chips or strawberry chips??? dehydrated fruit... apple?? no grapes prunes , but my guys love fruit.... all fruit |
