Tummy troubles, Help! My little lady has tummy troubles. Now she has started this hacking, like she's trying to clear her throat and sometime's she pukes up clear/yellow phlegm. No diarrhea. In the past we had actual throw of food, itch skin, sick feeling. But we have seemed to move past that. So I feel like we are on the right track of eliminating stuff from food just trying to find the right one! The vet seems to think it's something to do with her break down of protein. She's on some meds right now but the vet says we are running out of options with dog food and need to try prescription food now. Either Hills i/d or z/d. And if all else fails they might have to put a camera in her tummy to run test which we CAN NOT afford. Has anyone tried this food or had a dog do this? |
Poor baby! My Chibi has a very sensitive stomach. I have to add probiotics to his food every day and luckily we didnt have to do z/d but I found California Natural had very few ingredients and he seems to do well on it. I was going to try raw before going on z/d just because once you go to z/d if that doesnt work their isnt much else you can do. Another thing that helped was doing a food allergy panel, it was a little pricey but im sure not as much as a camera in his stomach would have been. You might also want to try and see if their is a holistic vet in your area, Chibi did really well on natural herbs. Hope your baby feels better soon! |
Does the phlegm look sort of foamy?? If so it could be acid. My Harley has really bad regurgitation issues. He regurgitates clear to yellowish foamy liguid alot. The vet ruled out a mega esophagus, but he still does it. They wanted to send him for more "expensive" tests, but we cannot afford it either. I give him 1/2 regular strength antiacid once a day and this helps alot. |
