2 Questions, 2 Separate dogs, both about poop Let me start off by saying i wish i was asking questions about something else. on to the questions Question one is about our younger puppy, 4 month old female. she eats her own poop and it really is starting to bother me and my wife. It has been going on about a month and when it first started i searched on here to see what i can do about it. I came across the pineapple chunk method and started right away. at first just 1 chunk at each feeding 3x per day, now i give her 4 a day and i have seen no change in her behavior at all. I keep calm when she goes and praise her for going on the pad and when she is almost done i take about 4-5 cheerios and slide them across the floor on the other side of the kitchen while i clean up. What else can i do? Question 2 is about our older 10 month old male, this is a little less involved, the past 2 days it seems like he is having a little trouble going, almost like he is struggling a little and seems a bit uncomfortable. What can i do to help him? Thanks in advanced |
Sorry about the poo issue..I guess redirecting her with a treat and telling her a firm no when she goes to eat her poop would be the best method. Ive also read on here sometimes it means they have some deficenecy in their diet that makes them eat it. What do you feed your puppy? They have some really knowledgeable people on here. As to not going. I used a teaspoon of real canned (no sugar added pumpkin) worked like a charm. I got that on here too!!!:teeth: |

Make sure its pumpkin and not pumpkin pie mix. :) my ruby used to eat hers too...that as after she had a hypoglycemia episode...about a month later she quit on her own...now I just need to keep her out of the catlitter box! |

Eating poop does have a technical name...was just thinking...there is stuff at pet places like petsmart that you can mix in with their food to deter them from eating it. I believe its in the vitamin and oils section. I don't know much about it or if it works but if all else fails check with your vet |
well blue buffalo is awesome so I cant imagine its a vitamin deficency.. maybe she thinks it tastes like her wet dog food so why not?;) her breath must be interesting. I feel for you..no doggie kisses.. Im sure someone on here wll have the answer you need.. |
do they like green beans, a little extra fiber might help |

I would try one thing and if that doesnt work try something else, just a can of low salt beans and zap them in the microwave |

Libby makes plain canned pumpkin. It is usually down the baking aisle. |
So I gave both my dogs green beans today for the first time, I dryed them and cooked them quickly in the microwave and cut up about 2-3 green beans each. My older male took to them fine, the younger one did not . She had a few in the morning and a few for lunch and about an hour after lunch she had terrible greenish diarrhea. |
