Weight question Max went to the vet feb 7 at 13 weeks and weighed 2lbs 6oz. Today I brought him at 17 weeks he is 2lbs 9 oz. I know I'm supposed to trust my vet... But this is the only one I've dealt with so I'm asking your second opinion because its free. Is this a normal healthy ammount to gain? Mom and dad were both a bit under 5 lbs so he shouldn't get very much bigger than that. Also I should note that I all but freaked out when the assistant put him on the scale because it first read at 2.4 lbs which is about the same as his last visit... The vet came in reset the scale and weighed him again to get 2.9. He also mentioned liver shunt to me he said he didn't suspect it but wanted me to be aware. Which just made me worry more! Thanks in advance to everyone |
I don't know much about weight gain but that is not much for his age! They should be gaining around 2-4 ounces a week at that age. I would be concerned if it was my yorkie! |
Does he look any bigger to you or feel any heavier? I use my own scales for Alfie so I can be sure he is growing and he grew like a weed until about 5 months. |
So I'm just realizing I messed up the first post! He weighed 2lbs 6 oz @ 13 weeks and 2lbs 14 oz at 17 weeks today. My vets scale does by 10ths of a pound he was 2.4 @ 13 weeks and 2.9 @ 17 weeks.., So sorry... So this would mean that he's gained about 8 ounces in 4 weeks. If 2-4 oz a week is normal that's okay right? |
