I saw that about the Wellness company. I think it was quite some time ago. I didn't realize that they had three though. If I'm not mistaken it was becasue of where they were getting a particular ingredient and they have since switched to someone else? I also saw that the company itself did not try to hide the mistake and right away owned up to it and pulled the items from the shelves. I totally understand why you would have switched if you were using it during the recalls, but based on everything i read about the incidents I decided to give them a chance. You can bet I'll be keeping lookout though! ( I kept the bag just in case lol) |

I would start changing after you have her home and settled in for a week or so, then do the transition over a week or so |
When I brought Tufty home I transitioned him with no problems to raw within a week so if you are comfortable making the transition over a week to a new and better food I'd do that. You want to make sure your pup is getting lots of protein and fats for growth, so look to a food with not a lot of filler like potatoes peas beets rice corn or soy. Don't know how you feel about raw, but that's another option and there folk on here who can recommend good brands of premade raw preparations for you as I'm in Canada. |

I have tried 3 different food brands with Chloe and I think I have found the perfect food for her.. after all that trial and error. If you are choosing between blue buffalo and wellness.. I would definitely choose Wellness Complete Health (puppy). I have tried Merrick and Blue Buffalo small breed. The blue buffalo made chloe have an eating poop problem because she wasn't digesting it properly; she still had pieces of it in her poop. She was also extremely itchy when I fed it to her. The pieces are also really big for tiny mouths! When I switched her to wellness complete health puppy, the poop eating stopped and so has her itching. The pieces are really small too, so it's great for little puppies. The merrick.. the reason I dont give it anymore is because I found some black mold in their wet food.. so yeah, that's my opinion on their food lol. |
