Any scale recommendations?
 
I have to get serious about Pixie and Roxie losing some weight. I am switching foods, giving a little smaller portions and try and get them more active. I have a small scale, but they don't fit on it very well. I am looking for suggestions on a good scale that isn't too big but will fit 6 1/2 lb Roxie on it. I don't want to spend a lot of money either. Thanks

Unless you breed, and need to weigh new puppies every day, I'd suggest saving your money and just have them weighed at the same Vet. once or twice a month. They don't charge for that service. I take my girls once a month for a weigh and nail trim. It also serves a good purpose.........that going to the Vet. can be fun. ;)

I have been trying to get the weight off of Buster as well. I got this scale from Amazon. I put a small pad on the bottom and got Buster used to it. He will now jump in and sit while being weighed. Of course I have to give him a treat for being a good boy. :rolleyes:

I have always weighed Toki by weighing myself holding her and without holding her and just finding the difference. I'm sure it's not nearly as accurate as if she were to just sit perfectly still on a scale by herself but she absolutely hates getting on the scales at the vet and shoots straight off them once her paws hit the top of the scale*sigh*

Thanks. I will do the vet weigh in once a month but I still would like to do a weekly weigh in at home. It keeps me motivated.
I haven't weighed myself in about 5 years. I prefer to think I still weigh 115 lbs. lol

Me and my dogs too!

I free fed my dogs...none are overweight..I'd pay attention to the amount you are feeding and highly recommend if the amount is within the given range...simply adding more activity.

Banfield at Petsmart has scale set up right at the receptionist desk u can just use that and won't even have to ask anyone to weigh him.
We use regular human scale and it works just fine (although we do have some expensive fancy scale that my health conscious bf got a long time ago).

When mine were puppies, I used a mail scale...but it only goes up to 5lbs. However, I think you can also get cheap mail scales that go up to 10+ pounds. The other option is to weigh yourself, then grab the furkid, and weigh yourself holding them. Of course, it may not give you the accuracy you're looking for...

What is great about the scale is if you use a pad on the bottom or if you wrap your baby up in a towel so they can't jump out you can zero out the scale so you don't add the weight of the pad or towel.

I just use my own weight and then weigh with Tibbe and subtract mine from ours, too. It's darn accurate compared to the vet's scales.
