New Food + stinky baby!! HI! I have just started a premium food called 'Evo' with my puppy, weaning her off of puppy chow brought by the breeder - she is now 17 weeks old. What is shocking to me is her very stinky farts on this new food!! Is this part of the transition - or does this happen with a meat diet? Thanks for the help!:animal-pa |
It could be that Evo is too high in protein and fat and d |
Gah! Stupid phone! Anyway, It could be that Evo is too high in protein and/or fat and doesn't agree with her, especially if her previous food was significantly different. Toki used to get gas on Blue Buffalo Wilderness for puppies. She had a nice coat, good energy, and good poop but the gas was probably the only downside to that food. We went through a couple bags since she did pretty well with it but switching the kibble to something lower in protein pretty much stopped the stinky gas problem :) hopefully others will have some good advice too |
She could have a sensitivity issue with this food, maybe try mixing it in with something else? Or even trying a different food altogether. My vet once told me in the early stages that they shouldn't get gas or stinky poop from their food if it's the right food for them. |

Well, that is what I was wondering-too much protein too soon...her stools are really....umm...'tight' looking; smaller than they used to be on Puppy Chow. I will try mixing the two brands in a leaner proportion for a couple of weeks. Thanks! |
Its just that puppy chow is a really bad brand. Give the pup time to adjust. |
