Questions and concerns I gave Callie her first dose of her new medicine Reconcile last night around 6pm after her dinner well she got pretty sleepy and around 11pm when we have our normal night time play time she was not interested she would just go lay down and I would bug her to play and she would just go somewhere else and lay down she also would not eat her midnight snack of a little bit of chicken that she normally eats while we play. Then this morning she didn't want any of her food for breakfast and again at dinner she maybe ate 8 pieces of her food so I went and got out a sample of stella and chewys freeze dried raw I had and she ate that very good then after that I gave her, her medicine. I figure I would wait it out a week and see if its gets better and maybe her body gets more used to it and if it doesn't call the vet. Do you think that's ok and a good amount of time for her body to adjust? She has never been a big eater so I always worry about that because about a year ago maybe more she was having hypoglycemia episodes (that a cause could not be found) but when I got her on high quality food it seemed to stop so I still worry about that. I am not a fan of raw food but she really really likes the freeze dried raw and it doesn't wig me out the same and have all the same concerns I do about regular raw is it ok to mix the freeze dried raw and her regular dry dog food? |
This is just fluoxetine (Prozac). Ry takes it. At first he was really out of it. We split the dose in half and he did ok but there were too many breakthrough symptoms. Then we went back up and he did fine. I remember him not wanting to eat too. It does take time to adjust, but you can ask the vet about lowering the dose and increasing gradually. |
I don't know how it affects dogs but I do know people that have been on Prozac and its taken a time for their body to get used to it. Its made them have lack of appetite sleepy etc. I would make a quick call to your vet. Good luck Taylor...just reading your posts I know what a good mom you are to Callie!!! |
Thanks yall I feel better and apparently I was overreacting lol. Callie ate her midnight snack slowly but she did eat it last night and she played a little bit. I feel much better. |
I heard it is not good to mix the two together since they are digested differently. |
Can I ask why a dog would take Prozac? would it be for anxiety? Just curious..thanks! |
