What is the normal range for urination in one day? It seems to me that Mickey might be urinating too much. I would say that he urinates around 6-10 times a day, give or take a few. Is there a normal range for Yorkies? He's almost two years old and weighs in at roughly 8 pounds. |
I know Biscuit pees at least that much, I was hoping as he gets older, he's 5 months now, it will slow.Maybe not :( That's why I call him my peepee puppy! I was told I could regulate his water intake, but that doesn't seem to help much....plus I don't want to dehydrate him. |
Hmm...I don't really know an answer but I can tell you how much my little girl goes. She goes out roughly 5 times a day, well I think that's about how many times she goes out to go potty. If its raining that's about how much she goes out otherwise she wants out every half hour to go play. So I guess if its a pretty day she may go more since she outside anyway. She's 5.5 lbs and was a year old in October and you can probably guess she's a female. Your guy may be drinking more water than my girl though and maybe the sex of the dog plays a role in it as well. Maybe others can give you more help. |
Water Monster Loki is the same size and a year old. I'd say he goes out about 10 times. From 4-10 I let him out at least 4 times, and once in the morning so that's 5 and my husband is home during the day with him. He drinks too much water, don't worry we've had him checked out. He LOVES water, begs for it, and we have to regulate it or he ends up having accidents in the house, wets his bed, etc. The vet says 1 to 1.5 oz per pound is "sufficient" and I'd say he drinks a good 14-16oz a day. His problem is that no matter how much I put in his bowl, he drinks it all. He also loves ice cubes, snow and he likes to get in the shower/bath and drink the water (gross). He also licks water off blades of grass. I think he has OCD or something. Is is improving with time. I've heard of other dogs loving water like that too, in fact our next door neighbor has the same problem with his dog. |
