1st heat Ok was in two minds wether or not to post this because of all the keyboard warriors before I ask be aware yes she will be getting neutered no she will not be outdoors during her heat cycle all u warriors just chill sorry but you wanna come on here for advice and them attacking u puts u right off u Ok sorry bout that honeys seven month old and has started her first heat we noticed a couple of little dots of bloody and she's very sleepy and always cleaning downstairs how long and when will I know when her heat cycle has passed she wasn't neutered before as Xmas time was too expensive with three kids and she went into heat this month |
Hi.....I am not 100 percent on this subject but I think she will stay in heat for around 2-3 weeks. It is normal for her to have a bloody discharge at this time. I'm sure someone with more knowledge on this subject will chime in soon. You can get dog diapers for her to wear during this time to help with the mess and prevention. I hope this helps and good luck! |
She's got on my daughters old pants with a hole For her tail she aint impressed lol |
This old "keyboard warrior", in the spirit of education, will share with you, just so you dont wake up with a fermale that has been accidently bred, those pants with a hole for her tail will not stop a breeding from occuring if the opportunity presents itself. The only way to keep her safe is to make absolutely certain she does not get anywhere a male is. It lasts about 3 weeks, although she is not receptive/fertile during that entire time.......and now I will take my knowledge and crawl back under a rock. |
If u read above she is not going out side I did not come on here for a lecture about breeding did I state I was breeding her no!!!! |
That was just a warning in case anyone thinks any type of doggy pantie can stop an accidental breeding... nothing personal.... |
Sorry I've been attacked on this site before hence my jump honey has a large enclosed garden 7 foot high fence she's not being walked until her cycle is over she's in no risk at all the pants were for the mess she's spoilt and loved very Mutch |
Oh boy, I think you came on here w/such a bad defensive attitude & no way was Yorkiemom1 saying that you were going to breed your little girl. A male dog can smell a female dog in heat from miles away & will dig a hole through your house wall if he could! She's just advising you on CAUTION. Best of luck to you & your little one, sorry to see you go. If you want to leave YT, contact ADMIN. |
They have doggies girl diapers for when they are on their heat cylce- not sure of you know, might be a little more comfortable for your girl. |
I know from mine that when in heat she is about 100 times faster at sneaking out the door on me.... I go out with her... I've heard it's no problem for male dogs who find a dog in heat to figure a way into a yard... either over or under a fence. Heard of some chewing through chain link fencing to get to a female in heat... Sorry I didn't see others had posted when I started typing... lol. |
And should u all not b focusin on the owners who abuse and neglect there animals instead of someone that loves her dog dearly and looks after feeds ect she is always with me I can't move for her so when she's out for potty she is with me go pick on animal cruelty ppl |
She's with me all the time kjc |

I love YT & have met wonderful Yorkie loving parents & I get offended if anyone says bad things about this forum. I don't know why you are venting the way you are, but that's one thing we all have in common here, we all love our dogs. |

I hope you find a forum that fits more of your personality... |
on a side note I rather like the term "keyboard warrior", bwhahahaha |
Thank you lynzy....I guess if I had actually gone for this posters throat, tore into her and actually accused her of whatever her vivid, over active imagination misinterpreted my response to be, I would have been prepared for her comeback. I have seen, ANY of us that have been around dogs for more than a couple of years, have seen the tricks and stunts two dogs will go in order to breed....thru fences, thru gates, thru crates, thru diapers, etc. All I tried to do was inform someone that clearly has no idea about heat cycles and the overpowering drive dogs instinctly have to breed, not to trust a pair of panties! Didnt accuse her of anything.....she came on this forum loaded for bear, defensive and all jacked up from "reviews" about YT that she has read on line, and took an honest attempt to share information with her as an accusation she was breeding her dog! Soooooo off base! And who in their right mind goes onto a forum and essentially starts out by addressing the members there, by saying, paraphrased of course, "All right all you a$$holz, dont say one thing to me that is not asked of you, because you all are already known allover the internet as a bunch of mean people.....". Is THAT the way someone new walks onto a forum and addresses members?????????? That is unmitigated gall! |

because the highlighted line was the thing that stuck out in your comment, for me. The cost of spaying/neutering should be budgeted into the initial cost of any pet...just like puppy vacinations. It's not a surprise expense like an injury, it's a planned expense from the get-go. Quote:
Exactly! FYI, my google search to find out how long a heat cycle lasts took all of 10seconds. |
Wow Op comes on here ready for battle, so to speak, then attacks the person that gives the information accuratly, spoken from experience and free of charge. Unmitigated Gall is soooooo understated...Judy you are too nice! lol! Just wow! |

I have learned so much from this forum, and to say we are bullies just puts my back up. |
I think it would be much more comfy for your girl if you got her the "panties" made for dogs in heat..You at some point have to stop being so defensive and listen to the good advice these lovely people are offering you..JMO |
Did she have a different screen name before because I see no other posts by her except this thread and the one where she wants to leave YT. |
