How much should Moses be eating? I have had Moses on Primal Raw chicken nugget-form for about 6 months. He loves it! :animal36 How much should he be eating a day? Each nugget is 50 calories. He seems to always be starving. He was getting 4 nuggets a day and gained weight and was 7.8 pounds. I cut him back to 3 nuggets a day right before he had his liver shunt surgery. When I took him in for his post surgery check up, he weighed 7.06. But he hovers around me in the kitchen and seems to always be starving. Any suggestions or thoughts on this hungry lil' man? |
I have never heard of this kind of diet. I hope that there is someone on this site is able to give you some advice! My dogs free range on blue buffalo ... so I'm not much help ... Good luck with Moses weight! |
I have 2 of mine on premade raw (smallbatch) & Turbo is 6#'s, he gets 2 1/2 & Mimi is 7#'s, she gets 3 medallions/sliders/nuggets per day. They do seem hungry all the time too loll so I give them a little bit of The Honest Kitchen Embark as a late night snack b4 bedtime. According to Primal feeding calculator, he should be getting 4-4.5 nuggets a day. Maybe bc he's a puppy? They need more calories. General rule is to feed 2-3% of their body weight. 2% if they need to lose weight & 3 if they're ideal weight. There's quite a few that feed premade raw here w/more experience, so hope they chime in. Glad to hear his liver shunt surgery went well! Just curious, was this diet recommended by the vet? I thought a liver compromised dog shouldn't be eating high protein foods...I must be wrong! |
I read that a yorkie should eat 30 to 40 cal per lb of body weight per day. The rule i follow with mine is 1 tablespoon per lb of body weight a day, divided into 2 meals. He weighs 7.5 lbs and gets about 7 tbsp or 3.5 oz of kibble (blue buffalo) a day. |
