Just Dropped off Dexter to be Neutered I always hate having to leave the babies at the vet! I had to drop him off at 8:30 today. He was one of the first that is going to be neutered. He was such a good little boy! He did not bark or cry. He ignored the other dogs and was so friendly to all the people. Everyone kept commenting on how well behaved he was! Everyone kept telling me I must be an excellent dog trainer, and I couldn't help but laugh to myself. If only they met my other dog Clyde :p (Original Psycho Dog) they might not think so! Dexter just happens to be a little gentleman by nature  I decided to get him neutered right now while I'm still on break from college so I could be home with him while he heals and be able to monitor him better. I have had to take care of three dogs that had just been neutered, but still any type of surgery makes me so nervous! Now Clyde & I have to figure out how to spend the rest of the day before we go to pick up Dexter  |
Awwww thinking of Dexter today. |
Awww Dexter, good thoughts coming both your ways...Keep us posted and try not to worry too much. |
Sending positive thoughts for Dexter and wishing him a speedy recovery. Such a good boy not fussing when you dropped him off. I cleaned house to pass the time when Max was neutered. When he went for his eye procedure, his baby brother Teddy just wanted to wait by the door for him to come home. |
Praying all goes well :) |
Hope Dexter heals quickley:D |

I think my main reason for worrying is that I am using a new vet... but they had great reviews & have been recommended by MANY people and other vet clinics... the emergency clinic that I have been using for Clyde (that I highly respect and have a lot of trust in) told me that I should get Dexter neutered there. I will definitely keep you guys posted :) but for now I suppose I should go burn out as much of Clyde's energy as I can before Dex comes back home! |

Keeping Dexter in my prayers that all goes well with him. |
hope all is going well with dexter and he has a fast recover!! |
Thinking about Dexter. Praying all goes according to plan and he heals up just fine :) |
Thanks everyone for all of the thoughts & prayers! Much appreciated :) Update: I was going to go pick Dexter up, but the vet receptionist called to inform me that Dexter's pick up time changed from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. The receptionist didn't have much of an explanation for the two and a half hour time difference, but she reassured me that Dexter was doing perfectly fine and the procedure went really well. I'm assuming that they are just wanting the anesthesia to wear off more? Anyways ... Clyde & I can't wait for Dex to come back home already LOL |
Aww, glad he's awake and they are watching him for any reaction to all he's been through for a while. Hope he heals fast! |
Great news that he's doing well. Yeah, they are probably just wanting to keep an eye on him and make sure he's good to come home. They may have ran a little behind on the procedures for the day, too. |
Dexter is back home. He is currently passed out LOL ... doesn't seem to mind the cone on his head, but that might be from the fact that he is so drowsy and unconscious like. I do have one concern, Dexter's "area" is really swollen and kinda blueish color... I've heard that it being blue is not a normal color even after surgery. When Clyde was neutered his area didn't swell or change colors. I had ZERO issues with him ... so I'm a little concerned by the fact that Dexter is so swollen that he doesn't even look neutered? I called the vet. Surprise, Surprise. No answer. The vet office people were really nice. They trimmed Dexter's nails for free when they usually charge a $3 fee. They gave him a free heart worm test, which I was REALLY surprised about. They also gave him one month's worth of heart worm preventative and a month of frontline plus. They were all very sweet people. The vet office was really clean and didn't seem sketchy in anyway. The vet people told me that larger dogs scrotum area can often swell up REALLY large but that it doesn't happen often in little dogs, which is the reason why I'm so concerned that Dexter is so swollen. Other than that concern the incision looks nice & I was happy with the service. Just Glad that Dexter is home! |
