Vaccinations every 3 years instead of yearly
 
I was told by our vet that tinkerbells vaccination are good for 3yrs.
Have anybody else been told the same ?

sounds like you have a vet that doesn't like to over medicate and make profit from giving to many shot??? But what

Absolutely. I do even less than every 3 years. Yearly vaccines are a thing of the past -- and it's good that your vet is not doing them. They are probably following AAHA protocol. :)

I personally follow Dr. Dodd's vaccine protocol. I do the initial puppy vaccines (DHP at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, then rabies. Repeat at one year old. Don't give any more vaccines for the lifetime of the dog, except for rabies by law).

I do not give any non-core vaccines.

CORE Vaccines for a canine (should be given to all dogs, unless a medical condition warrants otherwise):

*Distemper
*Hepatitis
*Parvovirus
*Rabies

NON-CORE Vaccines for a canine (should be given only when a dog has risk factors for the disease which exceed the risk of the vaccine):

*Corona
*Leptospirosis
*Lyme
*Bordatella
*Giardia
*Parainfluenza

Actually a third vaccine is optional per Dr Dodd.

I do the puppy series, a booster at a year and titer thereafter

My vet has done 3 year rabies and distemper for a few years now. It's better for our babies not to be over vaccinated,

Her one year old birthday? Yes, they usually do a booster around one year again, and another rabies. There after that, the rabies vaccine is usually given every 3 years. Most states have the 3 year law. A few still have a yearly rabies vaccine law, but it's mostly 3 year.

It's a year from her puppy shots not her birth date.

You need a certificate of health signed by a vet and I think it has to be within 7 days of your flight.

South west you need nothing, but you should have information on hand. That way you have the information on hand if something were to happen while you were away.

A friend with a long history with yorkies says to only get 1/2 dose immunizations for my puppy. Opinions appreciated, especially since we go for our first shots tomorrow.
