Apologies this is disgusting Hi all sorry if this is wrong place to post but I must warn u this is disgusting. Can anyone she's any ligh why my 6 month old female yorkie likes poo! My 4 year old daughter is potty training and we are struggling with bed wetting so we have a potty upstairs aswell she always calls when she goes potty but decided not to tonight honey decided to eat her poo and roll around in it this was caught very quickly as I do t like her wandering for long but why do they do this is this normal puppy behaviour as I said this never usually happens I'm not neglecting my child or dog just was not quick enough |
It is a dog thing. As long as your pup is not constantly hungry, it is behavioral. Dogs eat their poop and other dogs' poop all the time. This is no different. I'd just keep one of them with you at all times and check before rotating. lol |
It's normal, dogs just like gross stuff, lol Joel will try to get dirty diapers any chance he gets but I get them in the garbage right away, but if I would forget one he would eat it:eek: |
There are several members here who have struggled with their yorkie loving poo. I'm not sure why they do that to be honest. I know you can feed your dog a little pineapple to keep them from eating their poo, but not sure it would help on eating other poo (?) Might just need to gate the puppy off from where your little one is potty training for now. |
Thanks feel better knowing it aint just her he gets plenty to eat she's a greedy little madam it's a lesson learned :) x |

If it ate it's own poo, this is at times behavior that puppies do. You can feed them pineapple to try and help with that issue. |
My daughters poo from her potty |
I've heard that it comes from seeing their Birth Mom's clean up after them while still with their littermates. Moms do it to keep the area clean, puppies do it bc they saw mom do it, lol. But yorkies will also try to eat anything that has any kind of human smell on it, from underwear to Q-tips! |
Haha yeah I have noticed no underwear at all can b in her reach or she runs off about the house with them which luckily hasn't happened when we have had visitors :) |
Yet...... lol. |
My toy poodle always eat the kitten's poo from the litter tray. I'm quite pissed because I can never catch him in action. Weird thing was he only eat kitten's one. Once the kitten grown became adult, he don't eat anymore :) |

Princeton just did this yesterday. Ran from the upstairs bathroom all the way down into the living room with a pair of panties *glad it was just he and I in the house at the time!* LOL |

we also tried anti eating poo pills we found at petsmart. it seemed to work. hasnt touched/ate poo in a year. |
Practically every dog I've had at one time or another went through this phase and then out again with a little discouragement. I would keep the poo picked up immediately, tell them "no" if they started toward it before I could get there and redirect them to a treat or toy. Eventually mine all moved on and lost interest once they'd tried it. |
