Taycie Update! Taycie is doing great! I got Taycie's diet from Dr. Remillard and I started introducing homecooking very slowly to her. She is responding so far so good, however we are doing everything extremely slow. I really don't want to upset her stomach and well, Tay could use a break from feeling like crap! I also am trying to stay level headed about it. I want it to work so bad for her.. her stomach will be the one that decides that. I also had a consult with a Internal Medicine Vet and I am switching general vets. We met with her new vet today and I am very happy with how well it went. I was very disappointed how things went down with Taycie's vet prior to her being admitted to the specialty hospital to stabilize her. It was time to pull the plug and we are not looking back. She is slowly gaining her weight back from all she lost and she is looking great! |
Emily, I am very happy to hear Taycie is doing so well. It is clear that she has a very level-headed mom, taking such good care of her. I am also happy to hear that you like your new general vet. Keeping Taycie in my prayers for lots more greats updates on her progress. :) |
So glad things are going well for Taycie! |
It is wonderful you found a new vet and things are going well |
I am so glad you aggressively grabbed this bull by the horns and made definitive, immediate changes that have had nothing but wonderful results for Taycie and yourself! God bless you, and others that have done this! I am thrilled with Taycies improvement! It is imperitive we surround these babies with people that are prepared educationally to deal with particular health issues....and that takes owners, hopefully with their general vets assistance and encouragement, that actively involve themselves with the baby's disease process and then seek out specialists who are equipped to treat that specific issue. We follow many on here that go this route, with fantastic results. And even in the occasions, when the outcome is not as positive, we can take solice in the knowledge that correct decisions were made with the treatments that were used....the failure was not because not enough was done for the baby, or what was done was not correct. THAT knowledge allows us peace in our soul and broken hearts. |
So glad to read Taycie is doing so much better. Sounds like you found a vet that you are much more confident with and that means the world. Continuing prayers for sweet Taycie and for her steady improvement. She's a lucky girl to having you:thumbup: |
You have done wonderfully by getting Taycie the real help she needed when she needed it, even bypassing a vet you weren't pleased with in your "gut" and getting her better care ASAP. Without you, who knows what could have happened to her. I'm very glad to hear that she is coming alone and not regressing. That alone is progress to me. Bringing her along carefully with her diet change sounds smart. It's just a God's blessing Taycie picked you to be her mommy! Props to one good and faithful Yorkie mom! |
That is good news that Taycie is gaining weight and feeling better! I pray the new diet works well for her! I know it is hard to change sometimes. But most of the time it ends up being for the best. Sending prayers that the food and vet all work out. Hugs to Taycie! |
That is good news that taycie's is doing better. She is lucky to have u as a mom;) |
Thank you all for your sweet comments:) I am so lucky to be able to be her mom. There is nothing like waking up to that sweet face every morning. Especially when she sits on me and starts going into kissing hysterics! I just love her! |
I forgot to add I got a follow up email from her new vet telling me she has been in contact with her specialist and was getting all the information from Taycie's case first hand! She made a few suggestions which I liked and she really is so impressed we are Homecooking for her. She wants us to come back in a month and do bloodwork to see how things are looking. I am so glad we found her! I have never had a vet contact me and told me they did this! I am so hoping it will continue to be a good experience with her! So far I am very impressed. |

I meant to ask you - why did you name her Taycie? I may have asked/read that before but can't recall if so. Wondered if it is from the old Lucille Ball movie. It's an unusual and so-cute name! |

I just changed the spelling. The book spells it Tacy The Betsy-Tacy Society | Betsy-Tacy Society |
Oh, I went to Amazon and read some of the first book. Charming! Pussy hood! Had never heard that term before. The books sound wonderful and I read some of the stories shared on that website link. Even at my age I might try one or two of the books just for a look back into the gentle day the writer portrays in the series. Why did you choose Tacy's name over Betsy's? Was it based on the actual characters or just because it sounds so cute to say it? Are you going to one day add a Betsy to your household to play with your Taycie? |

No... a "Betsy" will not be added to our house as long as Taycie is here. As much as I would love 2 at the time 1 is enough for me. But.. the family I work for they have a cat named Batsy but Taycie does NOT like her.. No cats for Taycie. |
