Reviews of Grain Free FROMM formulas needed
 

How many on here are feeding the grain free FROMM formulas and what are your reviews of it?

I have been having some not so great customer service with Representatives of Canine Caviar!! It's like pulling teeth to get any information from them and they will not answer emails...
I have dealt Representatives of FROMM before and they were much more helpful and wonderful to deal with. I won't be needing food for a little while but it's making me think that it couldn't hurt to add some of the grain free FROMM into Riley's rotation and see how he does on it...

i feed oscar fromm grain free beef fritata or game bird.
he does super on these . Nice solid poos.
he did not do well on the surf & turf, soft poos.

i do like the customer service fromm provides..
i also like their facebook page, i find it very informative.

Toki has tried three different types of the grain-free varieties (Beef Frittata Veg, Game Bird, and Surf & Turf). She did really well on all of them and had nice, soft and shiny coats. Her favorite was definitely the Game Bird :) .

I have found that I have to feed a significantly smaller amount than what they recommend on the back of the bag (which may or not be something you have to do...Toki is losing weight and has restricted activity). For the Game Bird, they recommend a dog Toki's size get nearly 1 cup each day but she will gain weight if she gets more than 1/2 a cup a day of most formulas (so when I feed her GF Fromm, she gets maybe 3 tbsp per meal so I can still add a little canned or a teeny portion of a rehydrated S&C patty... although she will gladly eat this kibble plain and accept it as a treat!).

Canine Caviar sounds like a great food but it's frustrating having to deal with
not-so-hot customer service when you have concerns. Fromm is pretty good with those things and very honest...they have always gotten back to me...usually within 24 hours which is pretty good!

I actually have a $2 off coupon for Fromm and am going to go buy a bag of the Duck and Sweet Potato for my parents' beagle today :) And I have my Black Friday coupon ready so that I can stock up for Toki!

As you know, I am Crazy about the food and how well Riley has been doing on it. I had had some questions for Canine Caviar due to some information I had been given from one of the stores that carry it. I actually had posted my concerns and questions on theirr facebook page. There was a conversation going between three of us and after all was said and done, they Deleted the Posting. The store was actually following the Post and emailed me asking if I had deleted it. I had not and didn't even know that they had. I then posted asking them if they had deleted that conversation and they lied and said: NO! They kept insisting that I call them or send an email. They then deleted that Post, as well.
I have emailed them and I know of some other people who have sent them an email will no reply.

As the manager of the store emailed me:
[I told my assistant manager that “They are idiots who just so happen to make a phenomenal food that’s easy to digest”]

I am good to go on food right now, but thought I would get some reviews on the grain free FROMM. I have plenty of time to decide whether or not I will try it in his rotation once he has finished this bag. ;)

How much CC do you feed Riley? I was looking into some of the formulas and they seem so high in calories that I feel like I'd have to give Toki such a minuscule amount! But I really love the simplicity of the ingredients list and the digestibility among so many other things.

I was feeding Riley about 1/4 cup morning and 1/4 cup night when he was eating Acana and then when we tried the FROMM.
With the Canine Caviar, he gets about 1/8 cup morning and 1/8 cup nightand he seems to be just fine with it.... doesn't sit and whine for more which actually surprises me. * I sometimes will chop up about 4 or 5 of the long skinny frozen green beans and mix it in... after I run them under warm water. :)

Yeah, I Love the limited ingredient list and the digestibility.
Just Really wish the company was more responsive.... Ohh Well!! :rolleyes:

I did hear that Fromm is developing a single-protein, allergy-specific line in the near future. From what I understand, its going to lower in protein than the Grain Free line, but more limited in ingredients than the other 4Star foods. For sure something to look out for!!

really , i would be interested in that for kaiah. It may help with her allergys...

I like the canine caviar too but it is just too expensive for me.. We have no stores that carry it so i have to buy it online and its over $30 plus shipping for a 12 lb bag..

I like the fromm though it works out really good for us...
Especially now i can buy it local..:)

!....!....!!!!! So excited for that! !!! That's the only downfall of Fromm that I can think of...that they have such a busy ingredients list and that most formulas contain chicken to some extent. Their formulas haven't been an issue for Toki due to those reasons (thankfully) but that's exciting! I'm going to go get a life now LOL

Yeah I don't like buying those HUGE 12lb bags... I'm just afraid it
is going to go Stale or something!!

Luckily I have a few places around me that don't actually carry
it but will get it in for me at really reasonable prices.

I did that when I first tried it. Ordered on a Saturday and it
was on my doorstep on a Tuesday. Not That is Fast! :thumbup:

Yeah.... Riley seems to be sensitive to food with lots of ingredients...
That was the only reaon I didn't try the grain free FROMM to begin with was because of the busy ingredient list. Maybe by the time we finish these bags of CC the new FROMM will be here!! :thumbup: :D

unfortunately on chewy.com the variety of cc you can get in the 4.4 lb is the puppy food...

i guess it is good that you have someplace that will order it for you...

All I know is what I heard from my own ears. I spoke with an actual FROMM representative/distributor, "In Person" who was at the store dropping off their delivery of FROMM and was told that they are developing a single-protein, allergy-specific line IN THE NEAR FUTURE and that it was going to be lower in protein than the Grain Free line, but more limited in ingredients than the other 4Star foods. Whether this is True, or not I guess we will have to wait and see if you are getting conflicting information.

Canine Caviar had some shady kind of answers to my FaceBook posting on thier page, and then they ended up deleting the whole thing. I think that that is just wrong. I then noticed that everything on CC's Facebook page is all GOOD.. nothing bad on it... like they weed stuff out... Who Knows!!

IF THEY ARE PLANNING ON A L.I.D FORMULA IT IS ALL A BIG SECRET.. THAT REALLY IRRITATES ME...

I am switching over to Fromm Surf and Turf right now. It's only been 2 days, and they are getting about a tablespoon mixed in with their Canine Caviar. So far their poo has been good, but I won't know for sure till we are all switched over. Hopefully it won't make Calvin have bad eye boogies like the Salmon a la veg did. They do love it though, and the kibbles are tiny compared to the CC!

So far, with Fromm, we've fed Beef Fritta, Game Bird, Chicken a la Veg and are now on Duck & Sweet Potato.

Fromm was a food I had to give longer for him to get used to for some reason. Usually, I can tell within the first few days how he's going to do on a food, but with Fromm, it took a few weeks to get the stool where I wanted it. I had stopped giving it because of this. Now that I gave it more of a chance, he's doing fantastic ...

I seriously love Fromm. Which is why I wanted it to work so badly. Their customer service is amazing, their formulas, their reputation, their company, I just love them, I've literally never heard a bad thing about Fromm. They give me the satisfaction of a company I trust but also having an ingredient list that I like.

His coat is looking great, I notice an extra shine to it, and he's got lots and lots of good energy, his vet visit and bloodwork just checked out great too which is always comforting.

I am not sure if we'll do Beef Fritta again.. even tho it was his FAV by far!! He gobbled that stuff up so fast, and it smelled really good too ... his stool was always softer than I like on that formula. Then we did Game Bird, stool firmed up quickly once on this one, he also loved the taste. I thought it smelled a bit funky, but whatever, it wasn't a rotten smell or anything, I just didn't like the smell lol. Chicken a la Veg was great results as well, but he seems to like Duck & Sweet potato better taste-wise. We have not yet tried Surf and Turf or the Salmon grain-free one.

Well Riley was all excited for meal time... Went running into the
kitchen full speed... all excited!!!! Ate it all down and has been
happy all night. He's been eating it since Aug. 2nd and is still
just as thrilled about it as he was then.

Looks like I will be sticking with the Canine Caviar and
just hope I don't have to deal with their customer service...

Why are you switching?

It's weird because the food has so many calories, but Chase is losing weight on it :confused: I was giving him 1/4 cup 2 times a day, then when he started to feel too skinny, I upped it to 1/4 in the am and 1/3 cup in the pm. When he was on Fromm that's how much he got, and he was going poo 1-2 times a day. With the CC he has been going at least 3 times a day, and losing weight. Calvin has gone from going 2-3 times a day to 3-4, but he hasn't lost weight and gets about 1/8 cup twice a day. Chase is bigger at 12-13lbs, but it was pretty noticeable that even the groomer commented that he has lost weight. Other than that I loved it. The eye boogies were gone, poo was always solid, their energy level and behavior was normal. I guess he just wasn't able to absorb as much of it as he should've? I was going to switch to a different protein, but figured I'd try the Fromm first. They did good on the Salmon a la Veg, minus the eye boogies for Calvin.

Riley actually lost 1 pound since he has been eating it. But he "Needed" to lose that 1 pound. I haven't weighed in in a couple of months. I will when I get home this evening!!

I don't know what to do.... I sent them another email and still
haven't heard anything back.... but Riley absolutely LOVES the food!!

Have you ever tried Nursery Water? Helps with eye boogies.
