Can Yorkies catch a flu/cold from humans? I want to be sure before I let Mick kiss me. |
My vet said NO,and vice-versa. |
My vet said no too |
I don't know about flu or colds, BUT my vet said tonsillitis can be passed back and forth! He told me to quit kissin' my dog! LOL - like that'll happen! |
Thanks! I've heard it before, but something just keeps me from doing it. It's like the just-in-case part of my brain won't stop working! |
There is a "species barrier" that keeps many diseases of one species from crossing over to another species. Apparently "colds and flu" fall into this catagory. Animals cannot catch our colds or the flu. On the other hand, this is one of the main concerns about the bird flu. A few people have had it, but still not enough to believe that it has crossed over from birds to people. This "crossing over" is very feared - as it could cause millions and perhaps billions of deaths. Anyway - No - your dog cannot catch your cold. Carol Jean |
