Training Treats - chicken flavored? A few weeks ago I was at petsmart and decided to buy some training treats to use for the pups. I got these: Pet Botanics® Mini Training Rewards for Dogs - Dog - Sale - PetSmart and also the beef flavor as well. They did well on the beef flavor so I decided to try out the chicken flavor this weekend...Both Geno and Mia were throwing up all Saturday. At first Geno threw up and I figured it was cause he got a hold of those baked Beneful treats which I already knew upset his tummy. Then Mia started her throwing up all day and at first, I thought, well maybe she's just stressed cause she's not used to staying at my mom's house. Then she threw up again which got me worried and so I kept giving her nutrical. Well the next day I kept thinking, maybe it's those stupid treats. So I stopped and everything was fine. Once I got in the shower, my sister, not realizing what I realized, gave them some, and Mia once again threw up. Now I completely stopped and no one has thrown up thankfully! Do you think they may be sensitive to chicken flavor and is that common for yorkies? After all of this, they are being themselves - playing, eating, pottying, ect as normal. I felt bad cause I feel like I made them sick. So I went to Petsmart yesterday and got the expensive training treats - Blue Buffalo Blue Bits, Zuke's Mini Naturals Salmon flavored, and Science Diet Beef Training Treats. Also got them both a new Halloween toy :) |
Are they made in the USA Courtney? There has been a ton of chicken treats from China that are bad. I don't think just chicken would cause that kind of reaction to both pups. Jada is allergic to chicken but she has never thrown up from eating it.....never mind about where they are made, looked at the link and they are made in the USA |
I bought those last weekend; Jackson's been fine with them! They are made in the US, I'm pretty sure. Didn't see anything about China on the package and it's not chicken jerky. |
Waffles throws up all chicken treats. She just gets apple treats now. |
I bought those for Sophia when she was a little pup, and she had major diarrhea for a few days!!!  |
I def need to start making sure I'm not buying any made in China products. I never think of that. I just bought the ones yesterday cause I always see people here talking about those brands, especially Zukes! It was both of them throwing up but they are actually brother and sister (not litter mates, a year apart), so maybe a hereditary thing...not sure if that's even possible. They both seemed to have had a cold this past week and the vet gave us cough suppressant pills to give to them but Geno had been on his for a week and Mia about 5 days. |
We had great luck with Zuke's Mini Naturals as training treats. I agree, say away from the crap made in China or stuff that uses ingredients from China. |
