butt and girly part Callie is headed to the vet tomorrow at 3pm. She has been scooting her bum and when I looked at it her little butt to make sure there was no poo or anything I swear her little butt looked slightly swollen. If her anal glands need to be emptied could that make her butt slightly swollen? I also when going to clean her up before bed like always the other day it looked like she had a bit of a rash around her girly part so I watched it closely the last few days and it looked like it was getting better but today it looked really red again. I use pampers sensitive baby wipes every night one for her butt, one on her girly part and one for her feet and I have done this for almost a year now and she has never gotten the rash before but could it be the wipes? I have not been using wipes sense the rash popped up just a wet cloth If not the wipes does any one know what could be causing a red splotchy looking rash? |
It sounds like it could be her anals. If it is her anals & she's been scooting, she could have irritated her girly parts. Poor baby I hope you get it figured out soon as she must be very uncomfortable. Oh, and yes full anals can sometimes cause a bit of swelling. |
Jada was scooting and continually licking at her little bottom about a month ago. I took her in and her anal glands were full and one was almost stopped up. She had never had to have them expressed before. It may be anal glands, glad you are taking her in today. |
Hope Callie is feeling better soon! The rash could be a minor skin thing, or the beginning of a bacterial skin infection (from irritation when scooting or licking.) |
I agree. Let's us know how it goes at the vet today |
It could be just her anal glands... About every 6 months, Couver will scoot and I take him to the vet to get his anal glands expressed. The vet always says they are really full when I take him in. Khloe has never had hers expressed... She must be able to express them herself. |
When anal glands need expressing it will look puffy, you can have the vet show you how to do this, but if done incorrectly, you'll push the contents further up the canal. What are the ingredients of Pampers baby wipes? I personally wouldn't wipe her girly parts with them; sometimes they have fragrances that can irritate. Ask your vet about it. |
Anal glands were full. She does not have a yeast infection so the vet gave me a topical for her girly part and if that does not work in a week to come back. Now off to the petstore for Callie to get spoiled for being a good girl. |
I'm glad you got her in... Anal glands can really bother them if they are full. She probably feels a lot better. |

Callie seems like she feels a lot better now she ate more like normal when we got home and was dinner time instead of picking like she has the last couple of days. She is now wiped out napping after going to the vet and all the vet techs who know her coming in to say hi and then hitting the pet store for a new toy. |

Mini is not a "cleaner" either, she will stand still and stick back end in the air to get cleaned...little prima donna that she is...anyway, I too was using those wipes and Mini suddenly started getting little rashes etc., Vet said stop using them and I use the wash cloths now too...much better and no problems. Those wipes have chemicals in them too. Glad Sweet Callie is feeling better! |
I am glad Callie is feeling better. I had never had issues with Jada and her anal glands before either. I was shocked at what the vet got out of hers:( No wonder she felt bad. My vet told me that washing her little bottom with a warm wash cloth would help to keep the anal glands from stopping up or at least help her be able to express them herself a little easier. He told me to hold it on her little bottom for a few minutes every day. It has been a couple of months now and she hasn\'t scooted or been biting at her bottom any at all. I am like you Taylor, I would never try to express them myself, I would be terrified of hurting her. |
