Hard Stomach Tucker has always had stomach issues, he had a hernia repair at 4 months old. His stomach is constantly hard. He is on SD I/D because anything else makes him sick. The last time he was severly ill, even thou he wasnt technically diagnoised with pancreatis his vet said that she was leaning towards it and probably will have more than one bout, hence the rx diet. Somedays he is just clearly uncomfortable, he hides under the computer stand, he wont jump up on the furniture etc, but his poop is normal and he eats fine. His last xrayed didnt show much but possible gas, vet said his hernia isnt the issue. His blood work came back fine. Does anyone know what it could be? Is it caused because of gas? Would the rx diet help that? Thanks in advance.. |
Poor baby. I am not sure what it could be. But hoping someone here will have some advice for you. |
Thank you, I was hoping for more respones..:( |
I am sure having gas can cause his belly to be hard because he's bloated. I am not sure about the rx diet. I hope his little belly doesnt bother him. |

I always have this in my doggie First Aide kit. |
How old is Tucker now? Is his poo hard or soft? Is he eating canned or dry I/D? How many times a day is he fed? How much does he weigh? Is he plump or on the thin side? |

I did do some research last night online and it seem he may have colic which is gas build up issues, but if he is on the same diet, it just doesnt make since? I appreciate everyones help. I guess Ranother vet visit in our near future. |

Have you tried him with probiotics? I also give all mine 1 teaspoon of coconut oil everyday on their food. Did your vet send in a fecal sample to the lab? Also there's a product called bloatbuster (I get my probiotics from here too) Nature's Farmacy - Store - Product Details= Nature's Farmacy - Store - Product Details= |
And you asked what it is? I think it could be bacteria causing excess gas, so the fecal culture will show any problems there, the probiotics will flood his gut with good bacteria, and the coconut oil is a natural antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral and antiparasitic and does not increase the risk of pancreatitis, and is good for the whole body. |
