Hill's SD Saw a post on fb today that they are improving thier formulas, by making them by product free and adding more natural ingredients. This could be interesting. :) |
Well that's cool! I think a lot of people will admire this move toward no by-products bc that can be a sticking point for a lot of people here. Maybe they've finally picked up on some of the product perception and it drove them to make some changes. Nice. |
Very interesting! |
That would be great |
This is great :) Maybe other dog food brands will follow in their footsteps. |
Hills I agree with other posters. I hate having to feed these special foods, they usually contain ingredients I would not tolerate in regular food. About time!! |

Also Science Diet does have out a newer Regular Non RX Food that is called Ideal Balance and it looks good. |
Hills Vicki. Don't get me wrong, I too have given my dogs the special diets as they are formulated for a specific disease. They have also done well on them, but as I said brfore, having read the ingredients, they are not what I would usually accept in food. I could never understand why these foods could not use ingredients that did not include byproducts etc, and I felt better when I heard here that the improvements are being used now. Perhaps we use human standards for dog food and tend to reject items that are perfectly ok for dogs? In the wild, after all, animals eat most of the prey, warts and all. Btw, I had not heard of the Science Diet regular food, Ideal Balance. Thank you for the info. I did not intend for anyone to hold back on feeding the prescription diets that are necessary. I apologize for giving that impression. |
I have to wonder if the reason they are doing this is because they are losing customers due to the people who are learning about dog food, or into recent fads, or if they truly believe it's for the best. Considering they've always stuck by their beliefs that corn and soy and by products were great sources of protein, I'd have to wonder why they are deciding to change. If they truly believed in what they were selling, why are they changing it? |

Link that SD posted about thier new food.. http://www.hillspet.com/our-company/...gredients.html hope this answers some of the questions you had! :) |
That’s great and all but, hopefully the new and improved doesn’t mess up all the pups that are on the food and have been going great on it. |
