Teeth question This question is actually for Rosco my big dog, but I was wondering what stuff anyone uses to clean teeth, something that works, like a spray or something. I've never really thought of doing his teeth until I got Joel and I feel bad, lol |

if his teeth are already bad, as in a lot of plaque and tartar, the only solution would be a professional dental cleaning at your vet . If his teeth are in good shape just a toothbrush and some dog toothpaste should do the trick. Brushing every other day would probably be ok |
Theyre not real bad but im not sure how easy a toothbrush would be, he's a stubborn old man!lol |
i hear ya, it is not easy when they dont like the toothbrush. would he let you put some toothpaste on a washcloth and use your finger to clean his teeth ? it would be better than nothing. i am not sure how effective the dental sprays alone are. |
I'll try a washcloth or a toothbrush to get him used to it, and see how that goes,170 pounds of stubborn lol |
whoa , 170 pounds. yikes that is a big puppy..... good luck if that does not work, you could try dental chews like Dentastix..... |
Dentastix don't do much in terms of cleaning teeth. For brushing, CET toothpaste. They also have CET large chews. HealthyMouth is a great product, you can put in their water or buy a gel. |
well my point was if he will not accept any other method it cant hurt to try the Dentastix |
Thanks guys:D |
I had the same problem with my 8 year old 90 lb Lab who I THOUGHT was huge. Poor guy was neglected until little man Yoshi came to live with us. I've been using DDS Dental Wipes on him (Amazon.com: 8in1 D.D.S. Dental Wipes, 90-Count: Pet Supplies). They seem to be working. I'm on my first jar. I'm not sure if they're the best brand around, but I got them for under $10 on Amazon. I also give him one CET Oral Hygiene (http://goo.gl/JanWb)chew a day. They have them in a petite size too for the tinies. |
