Wellness Core Small breed Callie had been on Blue Buffalo Wilderness Small breed for almost a year and I was getting tired of her picking out and leaving the life bits everywhere and she was seeming to be not thrilled with the food so I decided it might be time to change it up. We tried a sample of Now small breed but it made her breath really stink so I was not thrilled with that so I saw the Wellness Core now made a small breed formula and bought a bag of that. A couple years ago we tried a few samples of Wellness and Callie's favorite was the core but the pieces seemed to be to hard and kinda big so we went to something else. Well the size seems great and she loves them and is eating pretty good although she is not a big eater she is doing well on this food. I changed the food about 2 weeks ago and the last 4 days or so she has seemed so much more lively and happy even though she was happy before the food change she just seems way more so. She is playing more and getting into things more like she used to instead of seeming kinda sleepy and stuff. I love how lively she is now and how much more she wants to play much more like my Callie. Just thought with all the bad food reviews everyone could use a good one! :D |
Great news! I'm so glad you found something she really likes and does well on. :) |
I just switched the pups over to Holistic Select. It's the same company that makes Wellness...It's a tiny kibble. Our new little man is 1yr old...pretty much done growing and he only weighs 4 lbs so he is tiny too! The other kibbles I was using was too big for him ...these are just the right size. and the best part!....Wellness in made here in mass! about an hour from where I live...! |
Max is on the same food "Wellness Core" and he has never had a single problem. He loves it too! I have heard that foods that have less ingredients are better but I think just stick with what works. I am going to keep him on it. Glad to hear Callie is happy and playful! |
I switched the boys to holistic select too, they got board of NV, Prada and Chanel eat Wellness simple, and baby Dyson and Delilah since she is pregnant are on wellness puppy. is good when we find the foods that they enjoy eating and they are good for them. hugs, |
We've always had Chloe on Wellness Core (the big kibbles) and then I recently saw that they had come out with the small bites Core so we got a bag of it this round. Chloe likes it and has always done well on it but I'm seriously tempted to go back to the big kibbles next time....the crumbs are INSANE with the small kibbles. They get everywhere and I feel like more of the bag is little crumbs/shavings than actual kibbles. Plus, for some reason she's more prone to drop pieces of her food into her water bowl with the small kibbles. Silly dog...always trying to make soup! :) Either way, I've really liked Wellness Core and will keep using it one way or another. -C |
My pups eat Wellness Core: small bites too and they love it. Ella is an extremely picky pup and she even turns her nose to most treats, but she loves Wellness! |
My Yoshi is the most fincky pup EVER. The only kibble he would eat is Acana Grasslands. Unfortunately, he is allergic to something in it. I was devastated! I picked up a bag of Wellness Core Small Breed when I was looking for something to replace the Acana. HE ATE IT! So Wellness is okay in my book :D |
I hand feed Callie and we got back from her grooming appointment today and she went over to where I feed her and sat and was looked at me then where her food was and did that few times. So I said ok and went over and got her food and started feeding her that's what she wanted! Little turkey lol it was only maybe 30 minutes to an hour before I normally feed her but she was hungry and ready for her food and that is a first for her wanting dog food like that. |

I think I will try this with my puppy when I get her.! : ) Im glad to see so many like it with great results. Its easy to get. As I live near my local Petco && Its most importantly holistic.! |
My dogs are both on Wellness... Ricky Eats the Wellness canned "Simple" that is Grain Free. Princeton eats the Wellness Complete canned "Turkey or Chicken and Sweet Potato." Both of them eat the dry Wellness Core Small breed and they love it...almost too much...as I can no longer leave a big bowl out. They were on dry Royal canine before...and neither would eat it without mixing canned food with it. I put a bowl of the dry Core out and they munch on it in between meals. I initially started out on Wellness because my senior was diagnosed with congestive heart failure I was looking for a low-sodium alternative to Science Diet's H/D. He really didn't like it...and after doing lots of research on various foods, I found certain kinds of canned Wellness was comparable to the H/D. Their sodium content was only slightly higher than H/D's and it was actually lower in sodium than some of the other "heart healthy" foods. My dogs are both very picky...and it's been really hard to get them to consistently eat a brand of food and stick with it. They would eat it for a few days and get bored with it...and it was constantly upsetting their digestive system to change foods. So far, so good with the Wellness. We've been using the wet food for about 4 months and we recently switched to the Core last month and both of them still clean their bowls. We all want to feed our dogs the best food we can...and it seems like there are a lot of varying opinions on what is best...Raw, Grain Free, home cooked, bigger companies that can afford testing... I think getting something your dog enjoys eating and will continue eating is the most important thing!! With the various health problems we are dealing with in my house, Wellness has worked for us so far~~ |
