Report of Nails in Merrick Dog Food |
What the..!!???!?!?! |
is a very isolated incident and that we have not had any other issues such as this reported." Wow that was the response from them?? Not an apology or anything!!! :thumbdown:thumbdown |
That's horrible!!!!!!!!! |
omg, so what'll be next ??? |
This is why I do not trust nor will ever use Merrick they have had many many problems and apparently continue to do so. |
Yeah that's definitely not the response I'd want if that happened with us. They should have minimally given them an apology and a refund or voucher for a replacement of the food they had. Although, if it were ME, I would have taken the food back to Petco and demanded a refund or replacement from them! |
Wow. This is terrible :( |
WOW. That's crazy! |
Wow... ridiculous! |
OMG!! I was feeding my dogs Merricks!!! NEVER came across anything like that in their food...I have been gradually changing them over to Holistic Select...both canned and dry. I NEVER had an issue with Merrick...HS is just as good a food...but, tiny bites....as for recalls on Merricks???? A LOT of foods have had recalls...Obviously someone got careless with their job. |
Sounds yummy. It is really hard to tell if this is true with one report. I wouldn't be surprised though. With Merrick's extensive lack of acceptable qc, I wouldn't Go near their food. |

Gosh...........anyone out there looking for a job in Quality Management??? These people certainly need someone!!! |
Dunno I don't feed Merrick. But as far as I know they never had a dog food recall?Only treats? But it's not the recall. Anyone eat Cantaloupe?? Recalls happen all the time. How they take care of the problem is the only way they can save there rep....Unless dogs were dying or something.. JMO |
I agree that I don't write off a food simply because of a recall. It is definitely a matter of how they handled it. For example, I do not like the way Diamond handed all their recent mess or past messes. Merrick consistently has quality control issues. I do not trust them. Even as far back as 2003... they killed lots of dogs when Go! was using their facilities. It's an issue mostly kept hush hush, but it was pretty bad. http://holisticpetfood.wordpress.com...a-2003-recall/ Go! and Now! immediately stopped using them. Some companies have had a few minor issues, or voluntarily recalls, or whatever the case may be, and seem to have things under control and are very honest with the customers - that does not bother me one bit. |
YeaI never seen that article on the FDA Pet food recall. Makes me want to make home cooked foods more. I supplement kibble with fresh. But not full fledged home cooked. Maybe time to start. How hard is it cook alot and freeze?? Add the probotics and vit and minerals =done. |
Recalls are voluntary. Whay did Diamond do wrong they recalled everything from the faxtory axross the board beyond yhe time frame expected- seemed very responsible to me. Anyways, no this response osn't apologetic, it well phrased liability foremost public release response one or several attorneys and pr people prescreened and editied. Any company xan hace a recall issue its all about looking down to the choices of even a single emplyee. |

I feed BARF but for this same reasoning I made the major changeover. |
What's next? Always something about one food or another.:p Anne/Luci |
I am a bit curious about this one story though. Seems odd for just ONE person to experience this. The kibbles are also all different colors? So I'm not sure which Merrick food this is, but I've never seen one that looked like that. They used to have a food that was also made by Merrick called Beef N More which is just awful, but I do not see it on their site any longer. Ingredients: Quote:
