Milk? I don't know but I was drinking a glass of milk and Keyra is begging me for some. I didn't give it to her but I was wondering if anyone has tried it? I mean Milk is a good source of calcium for bones. I'm not sure. Opinions :) |
I am not positive but can tell you what a vet tech told me many moons ago. She said that dogs cannot break down lactose like humans so we should not let them have it. She said a little bit wouldn't necessarily hurt but not a lot. I am SURE someone with a better answer will come along and post!! |
ive given my chihuahua/fiest mix milk all her life and she is 10 yrs old, she also loves cheese, Sonic my yorkie he loves cheese he goes crazy for it and he gets cheese.. he knows when I get the cheese out even when he is in another room. |
Mine have never had lactose issues but some dogs and cats do:) |
I personally wouldn't recommend it, there are better things to give than milk. Yeah maybe a little won't hurt, but how can you be 100% sure? I stay on the safe side and try to stay away from human food, unless well prepared, but that's just my opinion... :) :animal-pa |
Mine get milk every day what is left on my cereal. my vet said it wouldn't hurt them. but check with your vet to be sure. But there is not that much in the bowl and 3 of them drink it. I would try just a bit to see if she tolorates it. Have a good day. Anne/luci:p |
Dogs can be lactose intolerant just like people milk in general is too fatty for yorkies regularlt. I put milk in my tea princess sneaks it gross! Cheese should be hard block and a rare treat like yogurt, in general dairy is unnatural and moreharmful than benneficial for dogs. |
Years ago when my mom brought home our older yorkie Luna, she would give Luna a small dish of warm milk. Luna had the most HORRENDOUS gas... It was even sometimes audible. When we got my mom to stop giving her the milk, the gas went away. If your dog can handle small amounts, that's great but I'll stick with getting calcium from other foods or supplements. |
I'm almost sure the vet and breeder would say no. The breeder does not even want me to give them cheese. My cousin's little pom drank a bowl of milk every nite before bedtime. He would start barking for it if he didn't get it. He also like take out, hamburgars etc. and just passed away about 4 or 5 mo. ago at the ripe ole' age of 17. Really from just old age. So, who knows, its hard to tell what is good for them. Like someone said, maybe just see if he tolerates it and go from there. |
Thanks everyone! Maybe I won't bother. Her fromm puppy kibble already has cheese in it. I don't give her much puppy food. I am picky just like she is lol. Mostly raw fruits and veges I give her but also in small amounts. So far she loves pears, apple, WATERMELON lol and carrots. She is so very picky. You must break everyting even bigger treat/snacks into tiny pieces OR ELSE she takes it and hides it somewhere for days and won't eat it she will just save it lol. I probably won't even try the milk and even if I was it would be the tiniest bit. I rather be safe :) Thank you all again :) |
What food kibble is she on? |
