Dropped my fur baby off to get neutered :-( Hey YT, I dropped Julius off at the vet this morning at 8:45 to get neutered and 3 off his baby teeth extracted. Leaving him at the vet was so hard...I wanted to cry...since pick up time is not until 5, I have been trying to keep myself busy by getting some shopping and cleaning done, but it still doesn't keep my mind off of how I feel like I abandoned him and I how I wish I was there to help the pain. Time is moving by so slow....it's not the same not having him greet me with his wagging tail and those big brown eyes not to mention all the kisses when I walk in the door. It's driving me crazy. Well gonna call the vet since they said he should be out by 12:30.. |
Please let me know how it turns out. My Freddie just turned 8 mos., need to make an appointment and it scares me to death! Good luck to little Julius. And please post how he is doing. |

Hang in there....it'll be afternoon before long and he'll be back in your arms again! |
I know how hard it is! Much to my dismay, when I went to pick Raley up the morning following his neuter, he walked out wagging his tail! I know it's hard not to worry but I am sure your baby will be just fine!! Hugs! |
keeping your baby in my thoughts for a speedy recovery. |
Hang in there. Julius will be home soon. Prayers for a fast recovery. |

3 Attachment(s) Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I just picked Julius up. He was very happy to see me. After the vet explained the post op discharge instructions to me, he was in my arms..the whole way home he slept on my lap in the backseat which I normally don't do, but given the circumstances I couldn't let him go. I am planning on keeping him in his x pen for the next 24 hours. He tries to walk but is still groggy from the anestheia. Doesn't seem to be in much pain, but is shaking. He is sleeping now and the vet says that will be normal for the next couple of hours. Oh....and he only had to have his 1 Canine tooth pulled...Doc said that the other 2 have fallen out. Yay! Pics are after surgery... |
So happy he is back home with you and doing well! |
Just saw this, so happy Julius is back home safe and sound and it's all over with. Hugs...to the little guy! |
I'm glad that Julius is back home. Sending get well hugs!! |
Sweet relief! Glad things went well. Quick healing to your little man. |
Yay! Glad he did well! Max just got neutered and teeth extracted 2 weeks ago and I cried b/c he wouldn't kiss me after. LOL! I feel your pain. :) |
Glad he's okay. It is SO scary when they have to be anesthetized. Do you brush his teeth? Loved the pictures. |
Glad to hear he's okay, I'll be worried crazy when Joel gets nuetered which is coming realy soon. |
I'm so glad he's ok! How old is Julius? My Freddie is eight mos. now, wondering when I should get him done? Any thoughts from anyone? |
Hello YT, So it is day 1 since Julius has been home and it is so strange to not see him acting like himself. All he does is stand and stare at you, sleeps, and is lazy. Which i know is all normal but I just want him back to being his self. He did eat breakfast this morning and went pee. No BM yet though. I am glad that I don't have to use the " cone of shame" yet. The vet said it was ok if he licked e area every once and a while. He has been pretty good. Julius is 1 year old. Do to financial issues I unfortunately had to wait. I brush his teeth at least 2x a week. The one question I did have, is did anyone ever experience their dog licking a lot after being neutered? Julius is licking everything, the floor, blankets, his bed....thanks again everyone for the get well wishes. I will post a little later about his progress. |
I am taking my Brisket tomorrow and am so worried... Thus why I'm up on YT after midnight. Not looking fwd to tomorrow but got some comfort from your post that I'm not alone in being worried and hopefully ill see a wagging tail when I pick him up tomorrow. He's 9 months now. They were a month out scheduling appts otherwise would have been done already. Brisket will lick our leather furniture a lot. He does it for like ten mins but not sure why. |
Good luck with Brisket tomorrow. Praying for a speedy recovery. Please post and let us know how he is doing. |

Glad he is doing OK. Zachary will be neutered August 8. Louise |
Well I cried when we left the vets. He was so sad looking and wouldn't look at me. I swear he was mad at me. There were two yorkies and a lil white puppy playing at the vet and I was so sad bc he couldn't play too. Seems a lil peppier now that were home. Had some dinner and a roll around on the carpet and finally after an hour gave me kisses. Now laying on couch and he won't stop licking my leg, which is fine w me bc it's not his stitches, so no cone of shame yet. Wish I could take off work tomorrow and stay home with him. |
Julius is getting back to his normal self..it's good to see him happy and energetic again. How is brisket doing? Wishing him and everyone else who is taking their fur baby's to get spayed or neutered a safe and quick recovery. @ huffox...I know what you mean. I think Julius was mad at me also for the first few hours...I got no love....:(:( Now I think he is even madder at me. I tried to use the e collar but Julius found a way to still lick his scar. Being it is the 3rd day it is healing well and starting to itch a lot more. So since I had no luck with the e collar or the inflatable collar, I put doggie underwire on him. He doesn't want to move...and looks at me with those puppy eyes like " why mom"...but hey what ever works.. |

Glad to hear good news about Julius. Brisket was fine when I went home for lunch, ate, walked, but no BM yet. Doc called for update and said that was normal. When I went to leave him though, he was all shaky and clung on to me. Hated leaving him again, but I'm headed home to see him now. :D He still had the collar on when I got home, to my surprise. He hasn't been attempting to lick too much, but thinking that will change over next day or so. A friend of mine had a picture of their lil girl in pajamas with the bottom that flap down and I thought, well that's just silly. Until now, thinking, hmm that could work to prevent licking and not be as uncomfortable as the collar. Now where to find dog pajamas that have bottoms. :aimeeyork |
