Soft Poop...help Pippa (15 weeks ols and 1lb 10oz) keeps having really soft poops. I have been feeding her Acana Puppy Small Breed Formula for the past 4 weeks and I thought by now she would be use to it and her stools would be firmer but no such luck. Just soft and stinky. Is anyone else familiar with this food? The pet store said it's really good stuff so I'm not sure if it's her food or her treats that are causing this. I don't give her too many treats, just a small piece of jerky if she goes on her wee wee pads. |

Someone from another forum also said maybe it's too rich. They also said rawhide is bad and Pippa loves her rawhides. I have now thrown them out, not knowing they were bad! Do you know of any other safe rawhide-like chews that I could buy for her? Thanks for your help!:) |
Toki LOVES bully sticks and Himalayan chews! I recently got Toki an elk antler which she seems to enjoy...be sure to monitor your pup though with these chews! |

Sometimes if they eat too much, it can cause soft stool... |
Can you purchase these at most pet stores? I live in Canada and I find we don't have a lot of the same pet products as you guys. For example, I hunted everywhere for Nutrical and no one had even heard of it. Finally I asked my vet and he can special order me some. Thanks so much! |
I order online from bestbullysticks ! You can buy them in stores but they normally charge ridiculous prices! I'm going to recommend that you get the low-odor bully sticks (which are still pungent). I like the spirals best because it's easier for Toki to hook her paw onto for holding and harder to swallow/choke on. Himalayan chews aren't as stanky. They smell like Parmesan cheese or something similar to me and last forever! Toki can throw back a bully stick like a boss but her first Himalayan chew lasted a couple months. |
According to dogfoodanalysis.com, one of the ingredient (which is controversial) in Acana Puppy Small Breed is 'beet pulp'. "Commonly causes problems for dogs, including allergies & ear infections." Some dogs have soft stools if they're allergic to a certain food...some dogs are also allergic to certain grains, Momo can't have anything w/wheat or oats in it or he produces soft #2. |
you can get himalyan chews from Ryan, he's a member here: Himalayan Dog Chews - Long Lasting Dog Chews - Puppy Pads or maybe you can google for a place near you. |
You guys are all so helpful! Thank-you so much, I really appreciate the quick and helpful responses. I will contact the member about ordering the Himalayan chews, hopefully he ships to Canada! |
Mimimomo, I looked at the ingredients and I didn't see any "beet pulp" listed? Could it have another name? |
One last question...which size Himilayan sticks would you order? Does it matter? |

Ryan also suggested the bigger sizes. If your pup is not on the small side (3#'s or less), she'll do fine w/the med size. |
Oh good, they must have removed it if it was so bad! Thanks for the info, I am going to order the medium sized Himalayan chews, hopefully Pippa will like them:) |
