Trifexis pill for fleas I went to get Charlies monthly flea treatment from the vet (which has been advantage for the last few months) and while I was there, the receptionist mentioned the Trifexis pill. She said it was really good and also prevents heartworm and works within 30 minutes. I was hesitant at first because of the heartworm part. I wasn't sure if I felt comfortable with what ever medicine prevented the heartworm being given on a monthly basis. So I asked the vet and he also recommended and said it was very safe and the amount that the pill contains is safe. So I went ahead and tried it. I am really happy with it. I just got his second pill yesterday. The first one was about two months ago. But it really does knock the fleas right off and you don't have to worry about scheduling bathing around treatments or anything. Is anyone else using this medicine to prevent fleas or anything else? I did an internet search as well and didn't find anything bad about it either. |
I am curious about this too. My two go in today for their annuals. I am going to talk to my vet about it. |
We've been using it since March or April....No problems here. The only thing I find mildly annoying is that is a 'meat flavored pill' which Jaeger thinks is disgusting, as opposed to the chewy kind. I slide it in a cube of cheese and he takes it no problem. |
We've been using it for awhile, and have had no issues with it :) |
I recently switched over from sentinel to the trifexis. I guess sentinel had some quality control problems so we went with the trifexis at the urging of our vet. We don't have a flea problem, but if we ever do go somewhere and get an infestation it will be nice knowing they will die right away. One thing our vet warned us about Trifexis is that nausea is a side affect. If your dog vomits the pill up within 30 minutes the company will refund or replace it and it is important to give it with food to help. We have not had any problems with nausea though. |
Good to hear it doesn't seem to have any negative ratings from any of you. No he hasn't thrown it up and I haven't noticed any thing different, so he's tolerating it well. Yes, that pill is really big and even putting it in cheese or meat can still be tricky getting it down. Yesterday I had to cut it in half. It took quite a few tries to get it down. But yes, the stuff is good. It does what it says for sure. |
I have been using it since December on my pups. I give it to them with a meal so it does not upset their tummies. |
The flea pill part of trifexis is the same ingredient as comfortis. We don't use trifexis because it is cheaper for us to buy comfortis one size up and split it in half since we have 2 dogs. If we only had one dog to give it to we probably would use it. Right now we pay $25.20 for a box of Heartgard Plus and $15 for a Comfortis pill. |
Were on month 5. Everythings great. Pup had reaction to sentinal so then we tried ths and its great. |
I have been using Trifexis and really like only having to administer one thing for fleas, ticks and heartworm. |
