Eukanuba Bad for Elfie Im reposting this in a new thread because I had origiannly posted in an old thread I realized.... See one response below that a copied over too. Thanks! :) We have had a Yorkshire Terrier for over 5 years now. She has always had skin problems and ear infections. The skin problems included lesions and sometimes sores on you her belly. For years we have been trying to figure out what is causing her conditions. We have always fed her Eukanuba Adult Small Breed with the picture of a Yorkie on it and for treats Eukanuba Healthy Extras Adult Small Breed Treats. We don't believe in changing our dogs food all the time nor letting her have human food. So we always fed her this dog food. Over the years we have tried to figure out what is causing our dogs skin problems, trying different shampoos, trying different dog treats. Thinking she is allergic to something in the back yard, so limiting her time outside. we never thought it could be what she is eating!!!!!! Well 2 months ago our local Petco didn't have your Small breed in stock so we didn't buy it. The next time still not in stock, so didn't buy it. So after BEING OFF this dog food for 2 months now her skin lesions and scabby sores are totally gone! And she hasn't had an ear infection. Eukanuba Adult Small Breed formula is very unhealthy and we are pretty sure caused these conditions in our dog. Response: Quote:

Curious what food you have been feeding for the last couple months. |
We switched to Science Diet. But after reading thru these forums may try something even better. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Wow! Yeah, Eukanuba has had a few recalls too. All dogs are different though. Some are sensitive to different preservatives used in the foods, some to different proteins, or grains, or other additives like colorings, or flavorings. It's a matter of finding what food each dog does the best on. Hope she continues to do well on whatever you choose to feed her! |
Glad to hear you figured out what the problem was! Eukanuba and Science Diet are not good food choices, at least in my opinion. I would never feed them. You'll definitely find a lot of good information and opinions on this forum when it comes to food especially. It's a pretty hot topic lol. I've always been a huge fan and supporter of the holistic foods. Both Petsmart and Petco carry plenty of different varieties to choose from. Do some research and see if there's one that catches your eye or that you think your dog would do well on. Good luck! |
