Flea epidemic! Anybody use Petarmor? Cesar picked up some fleas about a month and a half ago. I gave him a dose of frontline. Few days later, he's still itching but I don't see any fleas on his belly or armpits, etc... So in the meantime we moved to another house. Well last night he's itching like crazy. I had been checking him daily for fleas and saw nothing until today. So I called the vet to see what I should do and they just recommended frontline which can be applied each month (I thought it was 3 months). So I went to Meijer to pick up some front line and saw this stuff called PetArmor next to it. Ingredients looked the same so I got that instead (It was on sale for $21.99 and appeared to be a generic form of frontline). So I put it on him today and am hoping for the best. The vet said to be sure to vacuum very well. I asked about a flea collar and she said they're useless, if anything just put it into the vacuum so that it will kill any fleas it sucks up. FYI I noticed the ingredients for the small dogs and XL dogs was the same, just the packets are larger for xl dogs. So I got the xl box (same price, 5x the amount of product) and just empited it into an old frontline vile and put .65ml on his back. It appeared to be the best way to get the most product for my money. Anybody have any suggestions on helping with these fleas? And has anybody used petarmor? We have a bit of sand behind the garage and am thinking there may be fleas in it. He spends a lot of time back there, as that is where his friends hang out and bark through the fence. BTW, I tried that hartz "flea and tick remover" and that does squat but make him stink like chemical. That stuff is worthless. |
petarmor plus and frontline plus....i have used both and have actually switched all my animals over to flea treats its all natural can be given daily to cats and dogs. i know some dont think brewers yeast is beneficial but my cedric get very sick with toxic flea topicals so this is the only thing that has worked and it doesnt make him sick. did you wash everything and spray inside the house? i would suggest washing all pet bedding and everything once a week. good luck. |
I did not have any luck with Frontline. I have used Advantix and Vectra 3d. I think both have been good. I have also heard that Dawn dish washing liquid will kill fleas. I haven't had a problem with fleas but remember hearing that Dawn works I think. We have ticks we battle and Frontline is like candy to them. Lol. I also think there was a natural flea mixture here on YT that was posted. I'm so sorry I don't remember what thread it was from. |
I had problems with fleas last year, but I've been using Advantix and haven't seen a single flea. I think Advantix II kills existing fleas. I haven't heard great things about Frontline from people who live in flea infested areas. |
Just FYI this petarmor works great. He has stopped his itching and I have found some dead fleas on his bed. He is flea free, I'm happy with that product. Can't beat the price either. |

Frontline does not work in our area. In fact, although the vets around here still sell it, they will admit that it doesn't seem to be effective anymore. Most everyone I know uses Comfortis flea pills or Vectra. Another thing you can try that works well is food grade diatomaceous earth. You can sprinkle it in your yard, under the cushions on your furniture, beds, carpet, etc....You have to remember to get the FOOD grade kind. We had a yorkie that we dog sat last week that had a ton of fleas. We put the DE out around the house and bathed him. It took care of the problem. Also, we have a large outside dog. My husband moved his dog house to another place in our yard the other day. When he did he came in and told me to look at his pants legs. He was covered in fleas up to his knees. He went outside and put DE out. Guess what? No more fleas in the yard! Good luck!! |
Flea epidemic! I have used Frontline and it doesn't work here at all I think the fleas are immune to it because that is what everyone uses. I always used Advantage I have tried the PetArmor and have had much better results with it than I ever did with Frontline. |
Fleas I just got my Yorkie puppy and the poor thing came home with fleas! He came from a loving home, they just have a lot of dogs and couldn't put flea stuff on the moms while they were nursing. I gave him 2 baths in Dawn and the fleas just fell off. I've been doing a comb through 3x a day with water and have gotten most of the rest off. The Dawn works wonders, but the vet said only once a week to avoid drying them out. He hasn't been scratching nearly as much and I've been keeping up with what looks like new little fleas. The Dawn works! |

Ive been using Petarmour since last year and I love it..works great, same ingredients as frintline but its cheaper!! I have tried advantage and all of them made in that line of flea meds and I always ended up with animals covered in fleas 2 weeks later. It just doesnt work that well here..:) |

This is how I save lots of money.. the cat formula is the same as the dog, so I buy one box of the big dog med. and one vial does most of my animals!! |
