To Vaccinate or NOT to Vaccinate My baby is 13 weeks now and has had all her shots. She is doing super and didn't have any adverse reactions to vaccinations. My mom has a maltese who got her yearly boosters Monday and had a pretty bad adverse reaction, though she is going to be ok. I know there are lots of different opinions on vaccinating. I have read some research that suggests once vaccinating a puppy that is at least 6 months of age, immunes them for life. In my parts, you can't get your dog groomed if their shots aren't up to date. I'm just trying to get some opinions on what you guys suggest or alternatives you might take. Thanks! |
You will gets lots of pros & cons of getting your baby vaccinated so be ready for lots of opinions! All of them are coming from a good place though! :) Me personally I have no choice but to get Jaxson vaccinated because my husband is in the Army & we live on post so the military has a rule on getting all pets microchipped & vaccinated to make sure all of them are healthy & happy! Mainly cause pets come from all over and they want to make sure there isn't an outbreak of parvo or something...as it is there is high cases of parvo in the outer area of Fort Hood so I'm at peace with it! Just want to keep my Jaxson safe & happy! :) Good luck! |
you could ask your vet for a vaccination titer/ that would tell you how much immunity your dog has |
I like Dr. Dodd's protocol. Get the puppy vaccs and rabies. Then at one year get the booster (of DHP) and a rabies booster. Then after the one year shots they should be good for life on DHP. Rabies has to be done according to law. Here it's every 3 years. |
