Great information here and I might add you will never be sorry paying a bit more or alot more for the food your dog eats. They eat less and their stools are firm. With people I have always felt 'you are what you eat' and I feel the same about dogs. Tiny breeds lose their teeth very early in life so a wet diet is almost always a no no unless they are sick and not eating but chicken and rice a better idea. The kibble as a daily diet is great for their teeth and something else to think about. Good Luck, you are smart to be asking such good questions. |

Yes! And the money you'll save on vet bills! |
I agree that a better quality food probably will save you in vet bills. Many of the average foods actually have forms of sugar in them that encourages the dog to eat ingredients that are not natural for them to want, however, the corn and different forms of glucose help to destroy the teeth. Always check your ingredient list. If the ingredients seem strange for a dog to eat or if there are things that you cannot identify in the food then probably you are dealing with a bad company. Sadly, pets are a multi million dollar industry in this country and many pet lovers are being duped by these money hungry companies. Some ingredient lists start out looking good and then all you see are snythetic vitamins on the list! Most dogs in this country are existing on three times baked kibble that has no real nutritional value except the synthetic vitamins. I would not be casual about food recalls. There have been many beloved pets that have died due to these bad foods. Just a couple of years ago many dogs died because those major pet food companies were adding an ingredient that came from China as a filler. Come to find out it was a powdered form of plastic! Now come on! What responsibel company relys on China to provide fillers?:mad: For that matter what responsible company needs fillers?:thumbdown |

thing to do, to help you achieve that goal.:aimeeyork Good point about the food recalls, Gracie.:yorkietal |
I feed FROMM chicken a la veg. 30 pounds is about $50. Yorkies don't eat much compared to a Golden which I also have. I say go for the Gold or the Classic if money is tight. The Classic is like 33 pounds for $33 dollars. The company has been making dog food since WW2 and never had a recall. History - Fromm Family Foods. My Zoey was a Nestle Purina Waggin Train victim. I am completely boycotting all Nestle products pet and human alike. I would much rather pay for a safe pet food than have another dead one due to their food. |
