What kind of dry dog food do you feed your yorkie? Hello, I got my Sadie (10 weeks old) a week ago, and her breeder fed her Rachael Ray Nutrish, so I am continuing to feed her that dry dog food. However, I researched about rachael ray's dog food, and it does not sound like it s a good food. I can't believe it! So, I was thinking about switching it to Blue Buffalo or Royal canin for yorkies. Any suggestions? |
When I first got Toki, she was on the Blue buffalo lamb and oatmeal puppy formula. After a couple of bags I switched her to the Blue buffalo Wilderness puppy formula. We went through a couple bags of that too! Toki did really well on both! Blue Buffalo is good quality and if I was getting food at Petsmart that would be my top choice! Currently Toki is on Fromm's 4 star nutritional grain-free beef and frittata for dinner. I am really liking this kibble so far! Toki is almost 10 months old and her coat is so soft and shiny since she's been on the Fromm! |
Where do you buy Fromm? |
Riley really thrives on Acana Kibble (right now feeding Pacifica) one meal and Nature's Variety Raw (right now feeding Organic Chicken) the next meal. |

I hope the above link helps :) Mine are eating FROMM's Chicken a la Veg in the morning with a small amount (less than 1 tablespoon each yorkie) of Honest Kitchen Force. Dinner is either fresh steamed veggies and fruit or if I am lazy SOJOs veggie/fruit mix or Hinest Kitchen Preference. I dehydrate to make my own treats and jerky for them :D |

I just put Joel on Blue Buffalo small breed puppy, and he loves it and doesn't have any problems from it. |
I think that ACANA is an excellent kibble and so is Fromm's Beef Frittata. |
Lollie has Taste of the Wild kibble to snack on and homecooked for her supper. |
i feed my oscar fromm grain free beef fritata.... |
I homecook for Harry, but leave down Royal Canin Yorkie kibble for him to snack on....just to keep his energy levels up.... :D :D Sally x |
Sasha is getting Blue Buffalo Wilderness kibble with a spoonful of Blue Buffalo canned mixed in. My parents new puppy, Noah, came to us eating Iams Puppy and we're currently in the process of changing him over to Blue Buffalo Small Breed Puppy. |
Benjamin gets Primal Raw, and I rotate proteins. I tried Honest Kitchen but after a meal or two he wouldn't eat it - but I also think that's an excellent food. Acana, Orijen, Fromm - All excellent foods. I personally recommend avoiding Blue Buffalo, their quality control is questionable, and I've seen it make alot of dogs really sick - And have noticed with my IG that has frequent recuring GI issues we just can't seem to figure out the cause of - Every time I end up at the ER with her or my regular vet isn't available and I have to see a vet that isn't familiar with her case, often one of the questions I get asked is if I feed Blue Buffalo - If vets are asking that with dogs that have frequent GI issues, then it tells me it's a food I'd never feed!!!! |
I've had my little girl a week now. The breeder had her on Diamond (Ugh) too many recalls for me, so I bought Great Life Grain Free & Potato Free Wild Salmon. I transitioned her over gradually during the week, and she loves it, her stools are firm and she never once got any type of runny poop, and I put 1/4 cup of it in her bowl in morning and by end of day she has finished it off. :animal-pa |
I had to laugh when you said you put 1/4 c. down and by the end of the day she had it finished off-mine was 1 of 7 puppies and he scarfs down ANYTHING you give him in 2 seconds. Jaeger gets Authority Lamb and Rice right now...but next month when he goes to the vets, if she wants to put him on an antihistamine right off the bat, I'm going to suggest we start feeding a grain free seafood based food if I can find one-then we'll know if its a lamb or grain allergy. |
