Other than the Kong - what's a good chew? Every dog I ever had liked to chew on stuff. Other than the usual toys or a kong, what's a good natural chew stick for a yorkie? Thanks.:) |
Toki used to really enjoy her nylabones (especially the blue nubby ones) until I introduced her to bully sticks and Himalayan chews. She will still chew on her nylabones sometimes but really goes at her edible chews! Bully sticks are cheaper and easier to find than Himalayan chews but can get kinda stinky (even the low-odor ones) so for that reason I prefer the Himalayans (which last FOREVER!) |
morgan loves his nylabones |
Himalayan Chews. Riley is chewing one, right now.... And, when they get really small, you can throw them in the microwave for about 35 - 45 seconds and they will Puff Up into a big ball. |
I do only cow hooves and split deer antlers. I dont get the antlers from a pet store but from a company that gathers shed antlers and sells them by the pound. Both are safe chews. Louise |
Max loves Bully Sticks. They do have a smell though. You can find them at some Petco stores sold individually on the racks. They are about $6 per stick. If you buy them online, they are cheaper. |
Thanks everybody! Thanks for your thoughts everybody.:) I'm off to look online! |
The only toy Cesar will really chew is a good old fashioned rope. He will not chew on anything rubber (unless I put peanut butter in the kong). Nylabone and the like he will not even pick up. Depends on the dog I would say. Just get a few toys and see what your dog likes best. |
My Jaeger wasn't a peanut butter filled kong fan-so I had to find other things to keep him busy. I will NOT feed rawhide. I don't really think nylabones are a good bet for our little guy as he's a chewer/swallower. I posted on another forum and antlers, bully sticks, zukes bones, and the himalan chews were all mentioned. Currently, we're doing bully sticks (1 lb for about $20 online) and raw beef bones from the butcher's. (We throw them out after a week) |

Mine like nylabones. They also like those rope bones. |
I have used nylabones and kongs. For the agressive chewers we have used antlers. :) They like these too. |
